Where to start/plan of attack? - Chicagoland/far north burbs
Something similar probably exists somewhere, but I could not find in my searches. However, this is specific to my situation and I am posting this here to keep it local in terms of dealers/weather conditions/etc. Meant to ask at the meet but did not have time to do more than whiz by. Hoping some of you through your failures/successes could point me in the right direction.
Me - I am a financial professional but I love my new ride. I want to mod, but can't go overboard, because I have to maintain a certain image for job. This will be my primary ride (I have a third FWD car/beater for snowy days). I don't race but have a bad case of don't pass-me-itis. I am a complete mechanical moron and would like to not have warranty issues. Ride - '07 CPO 335i sedan. Black Sapphire. Premium/cold pkg. No sport pkg. Here is what I was thinking - would love your input on order to complete, suggestions on where to purch (I'd love to support our local vendors - already have been pointed to a&l autobody - no probs there, but don't know the exact range of what they can accomplish on this list): Exterior - 90% tail light tint (I know a guy) - $100 Window tint (% TBD - could use suggestions - also know a guy) - $225 CF Grilles - TMS $200 CF Roundels hood & trunk - $24/ea TMS CF Roundles - whls? depends on wheels I buy. Bimmian blk headlight covers - $99 JLevi Shadow emblem - $20 JLevi CF plate frame rear - $35 JLevi CF Lip??? - $480 BAS Tuner - JB3 or SSTT? Leaning JB3 but would like something that comes in and out easy (remember me = mechanical moron). Exhaust - Agency Tip $1260 JLevi Borla $1100 TMS Bavarian Auto Tri Flo Sport $945 I think some of the others will be out of my price range. Wheels and tires TBD depeding on remaining budget ($7k before above), but I am thinking black with machined lip or silver with black/anthracite trim. 19 x 8 front, 19 x 9 or 9.5 rear. Again, if I can buy the above at a local source (i.e. A&L at an as good or better price instead of online, I will def do that). Sorry if I have offended anyone's mechanical prowess. Thank you in advance. |

Oh, and I have not neglected air intake/intercooler. Just can't squeeze it the intial budget. Figured I would add those later unless prevaling thought is to include either in lieu of something else.

you can probably get everything you mentioned above at or through IND/A&L minus the tints and the tune.
i suggest you go to nino of umbratinting for your tints. i have 35% on my front windows and 20% on the rear and back.

Figured as much on A&L based on a previous question I had posted. Pricing in-line with the above?
Is that pretty much how you would start? I realize colors are personal choices, but if it is heinous, tell me. |

You can get the CF grilles for about $160 shipped (if I remember) from JBSpeed here on the forums.
Regarding the easy in/out tunes, the plug 'n play JB3 still requires a decent level of knowledge under the hood of your car. You have to take off the cowl, open the ECU compartment to get to it. The SSTT or JB+ can be removed in a minute or two. |

As far a tune I recommend the jb+/jb3 the jb3 is easy to install if you take it slow. I was going the cf route on an aw e92 but I turned out really liking the blue... It keeps a good contrast. Black emblems are a waste of time. Just debadge

FWIW, I spent some time with Julian and Frank from wheelSTO this afternoon. Great guys, very knowledgeable. Great selection. I have yet to decide, but I am close. Exploring one other option first. I highly recommend to anyone reading this interested in a fresh opinion.

If you have an image to uphold at work, consider my mod list compiled for you. Go to the dealer and trade the E90 in for an 04-08 M5. It is the ultimately understated gentlemans missle from BMW. No warranty concerns and no additional mods necessary.

Ha. What you don't know about me is that I am half Mexican. Therefore, such that it is, mods are always necessary.

The other flaw in that plan is that unless you have a $1 mil 401k rollover, a $5 mil life insurance policy to take out, or a $1 mil mortgage to refi with me...it would never fly by the "finance committee".
