Dyno results for GruppeM 330 air intake
We decided to test this intake on the dyno today. Temps were in the 90s (unfortunately), but the intake gained approximately 8WHP/7WTQ (at the wheels). With an 18% drivetrain loss, that's roughly 10HP/9TQ at the motor in 90 degree weather. The dyno represents the highest run for each intake (5 runs/intake). With enough adaptation, I think the DME could squeeze another 3-5HP/TQ out of the engine (especially in cooler weather). Besides the nice performance boost, the sounds is pretty intoxicating as well (if you had a GruppeM on your E46, then you know what I mean).
We'll be developing an ECU upgrade for this intake shortly to see how much more can be gained. And full Supersprint system goes in Monday...I'll post up some runs for that as well. *tuck

Thanks for the dyno, looking forward to what you guys have planned in the future. Do you know the offsets of the rear BBS wheels?

Thanks for the dyno. I'm curious to know what this looks like under the CF cover. Is there any shielding from the hot engine compartment? As you know, the engine compartment is practically sealed completely, save for perhaps tiny gaps in the plastic and the ducting routed from the kidney grilles over the radiator.

Before doing any of these performance mods, I'm going to re-dyno with the new wheels for a baseline. |

I guess my main concern is that when dyno testing, the hood is up, so all the hot air from within the engine compartment gets vented (heat rises). When driving, the hood compartment is enclosed, so much of the hot air would get sucked back into the engine. I'm not sure how one could or would replicate those circumstances, but this is why I'm curious to know if this intake is shielded from the sides in any way.
I'm also very excited about the Supersprint exhaust with HEADERS! For all you sound buffs out there, wait till you hear this one. I have a feeling it's gonna be a little on the loud side. |

Nice posts. Can't wait to hear the full exhaust installed and running on the dyno.

For your ECU upgrade, is it tuned specifically to be paired with Gruppe M intake?? I know you can just get the ECU reflush alone, but I would like to know if the way you reprogram the ECU will only have its max advantage with Gruppe M intake installed or not. And lastly, what's your ETA for ECU upgrade??
