New Mods installed - AR Oil Cooler, Stett CP + Forge DV and CAI, Borla MP *Pics*
Now that my heavily-modded car is paid in full and I plan to keep the car long-term (less than 20k miles in over 3 years) I decided to add some mods to extend the longevity and reliability of the car. That seems somewhat contradictory however these mods are simply there to improve upon what the factory initially set out to do.
A big shout out to IND, who despite a hectic schedule the week before Bimmerfest and the Greatest M3 build of all time (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=383197), was able to install these mods before they leave for California. AR Secondary Oil Cooler - I do track the car occasionally so I decided to do what I could to keep oil temps down during track days and spirited driving, especially running higher boost levels. I have not taken the car to the track yet, however normal driving results in the car staying at the low end of the optimal operating range (230-240F). The cooling area is HUGE! A great mod to keep the oil temps down, it is a tight fit but can be done well in the right hands. Stett Charge Pipe and Forge DV - I am running GIAC Stage 1 and will upgrade to Stage 2 when available so with the higher boost levels I thought it was definitely mandatory to upgrade to a stronger charge pipe and replace the factory plastic diverter valves. I don't really notice any audible change with the DV installed, both with the windows open or closed. Using the yellow springs, throttle response is definitely improved. Stett CAI - After debating a DCI and CAI I finally settled on the CAI based on where the filter sits, directly in front of the driver's side wheel. We cut out the plastic piece behind the mesh so there is direct airflow to the filter. I do believe there is a better source of airflow than a DCI but I am not here to start a debate. I do hear the "whoosh" when I let off the gas but only when it is heavily pressed. If I am feathering the gas pedal I don't hear anything from the intake. Borla Midpipes (2nd cat delete) - I had to remove my secondary cats in prep for GIAC Stage 2 and one of the few options available to mate to my bastuck quad was the Borla. The pipes do taper quite a bit so IND had to expand some of the existing piping in order to slip the midpipes inside and then weld up. The sound of the AR downpipes, borla midpipes and bastuck quad is beautiful, it sounds very exotic with ZERO drone. All in all I am very happy with these mods, here is a complete mod list for those interested: AR Design Catted Downpipes AR Design Secondary Oil Cooler - Stage 1 AMS FMIC Bastuck Quad Exhaust Bastuck Rear Diffuser BMW Aero Lip Borla Midpipes Forge DV GIAC Stage 1 iForged 19" Monaco w/Falken FK452 (Summer) KW V1 Coilovers LUX H8 LED Angels M-Force Design M3 sideskirts P3 Boost Gauge Stett CAI Stett Charge Pipe Vorsteiner CSL Trunk VMR 18" 710 w/Dunlop Wintersport 3D (Winter) I think that is it - next on my wish list: Quaife LSD and Brembo BBK

LSD is a great choice too, but in lieu of the Brembo BBK just get other brake pads and put the money into some of the M3 suspension parts. You'll get more fun out of that IMO. Great car!!! Alpina_B3_Lux

looks awesome buddy. i have the Stett CAI as well but have yet to relocate the brake booster line(i think that's what it is). was it just a matter of removing the current lines and using the ones supplied by Stett?
with everything you've got going...surprised you don't have a catch can yet. if you haven't picked one up already...i'd recommend AR's which mounts on the passenger side. it was a tight fit...but it looks great! |

VERY nicely done!!!
I would really recommened getting a Oil catch can to go with those parts. That might help more with longetivity than all the parts you have installed. |

lincoln square, but I'm actually at IND right now, the oil lines developed a nasty leak and we are trying to figure out what is going on. I have lost more than half of the oil and all oil pressure
the exhaust sounds amazing, though

The car is still at IND but I will provide an update once we resolve the oil leak issue.

*update*
the studs at IND replaced the faulty line with a new hose and fittings rated up to 3000 PSI - there is no way any oil will leak out of this line!
