M6 Replica Wheels on e92 Rubbing Poll

I've read several threads where people whom have the M6 Replica's are experiencing rubbing with the following setup in sport suspension and no drop:

Front: 19x8.5 ET35 / 235/35/19
Rear: 19x9.5 ET30 / 265/30/19

I am planning on getting these wheels with this offset and tire size and wanted to know if this is a serious issue or not.

No rubbing, no issues with the M6 Reps, but I have the "older" et40 rear offsets (before the et30 offsets came out)...19x8.5 et 38 front and 19x9.5 et40 rear. I also always carry an entire trunk full of my work stuff (~50 lbs.).

et30 rear wheels with Goodyear 265 tires.
Both sides would rub if I go over any uneven surfaces (or a bump) over 10mph even if I am driving alone.

Would rolling the fenders with that set up prevent rubbing?

i vote no rubbing, because stock sport suspension is not that low, and sooooo many people are running this setup, even with H&R sport springs which are lower than stock and theyre not rubbing....

just to let you know, the kumho spt tires are made a little wider than other brands...

I have the exact same setup you are planning and the only rubbing I have is over really, really big quick bumps....if that makes any sense? And when it does its a very quick rub, nothing major at all. I'll probably go for the H and R sport springs after I see how she does this upcoming winter.

That's why I setup this poll. It seems there are quite a few with rubbing going on while others are not at all. From what I've read they are using Goodyear or Michelin tires, not Kumho.

This is all very confusing. I mean if the wheels are all the same, they are all using one of two tires all in the same size and some rub while others don't. The only other thing is that the wheel wells are not the same on all the cars? I mean what else could it be? This is driving me crazy!

Hey Tag, I'm running the exact same setup and offsets. The tires are Kumho's. 328i coupe with sport package, and like mentioned above, it rubs only on big big bumps, never during normal driving or speed bumps. Hope this info helps.

So I assume the guys that are rubbing are fixing this by rolling their fenders? And is it just the rear tires?

Rolling fenders is a common thing that people do to fit wider tires on their cars. Mainly track guys do it, but street driven cars also have this done to them, in order to fit certain wheel and tire sizes.

You guys also need to remember, certain tires run different widths, even though they may have the same size marked on them. Always check the tire widths on tirerack to be certain.

Here is a side by side comparison of the stock 19" rear wheels (Style 230 - 19x9 ET39 / 255/30/19) and the M6 rear wheels (Miro M6 - 19x9.5 ET30 / 265/30/19).

Notice that the "section width" of the tire is about 10mm (0.39 inches) wider than on the stock rear wheel/tire. Also notice that the overall tire height is 6mm (.24 inches) taller than the stock rear wheel/tire.

I think this maybe why it's rubbing the rear wheel wells. The tire is extending out .2 inches toward the wheel well lip and the tire is about 1/4 of an inch taller making it closer to the lip than the stock rear wheel/tire combo.

I've had a few days to drive around on the new wheels and yes I do get rubbing in the back over bumps in the road.
