O2 sensors
I'm sure this question has been answered before but does anyone have the part numbers and a link to buy both O2 sensors for a 2008 E92?
How hard are they to install? |

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_0686 BMW part numbers : 11787558055 11787558087 If you get stuck for the 2nd one (x87) then you can order 2 of the longer one (x55) and just have 200mm of excess cable. But just don't get them mixed up as they'll be the same colour. Late last year I still found FCP + postage cheaper than Bosch direct. I ended up getting 1x genuine BMW and 1x Bosch as they didn't have 2 cheaper Bosch's in stock. Still was cheaper. In terms of difficulty to do - it's a bit fiddly but definitely easier than doing downpipes. There just isn't much room in there to undo the sensors from the DP. You'll need an o2 sensor tool, or like I did, cut a 22mm spanner in half. You can borrow my cut spanner if you like. Remove engine cover. Remove underneath cover. Remove steering rack bolts, and pull steering rack down. Undo old o2 sensors. Unclip from the top. Feed new ones in from the top, do one first. Don't clip in at the top yet. Do up o2 sensor into DP. Then unwind the cable as it will have spun around while doing up the end. Then clip in at the top. Repeat for second o2 sensor. |

Thought I would also jump in and say that from my experience so far I tried walker O2 sensors and they are crap. I will only go OEM for them as they are better and last way longer but hey thats my opinion so far even though they cost more..

The only purpose of post-cat sensors is to check that the cats are working. ALL tunes that I know of have the post-cat O2 sensors effectively disabled for use with catless downpipes without errors. Only the pre-cat sensors are used for AFR measurement purposes. If it's for your car, you can save some good $ by only replacing the pre-cat sensors.

FWIW the ST guys use NTK widebands are they're supposedly more reliable than the oem/bosch widebands. |

Thanks for the feedback guys, looks like ill start with the precat sensors and see if it fixes the surging problem, given the only code that comes up is the O2

Yeah damn that pricing sucks. Car life would be so easy in the US! You bought both white and unpainted? Doesn't the unpainted spring come included with the BOV?

Turbosmarts also have a lot of spring pressure. I had to change to their very soft "supercharger spring" to fully get rid of part throttle flutter/surge sound on my S14.
Stock diverter valves open at 4.5psi difference between the charge pipe and intake manifold. Tial black spring is 6psi, white is 8psi, unpainted is 10psi. If you want confirmation, chuck in the stock charge pipe with stock diverter valves venting to atmosphere. |
