Doors won't lock

Today I got out of the car to go into a restaurant and when I pressed the key fob button to lock the car up, it just wouldn't. The lights flash normal when I try to lock/unlock it but the problem is that now the driver's door and the rear passenger's door won't open even if I get into the car and try to open it from the inside. I can open the driver's side door with the key but not without it. The other thing is that the passenger's side door and the left rear door will not lock.
Has this happened to anyone else here?

At least the OP isn't the one from NJ... Then the doors not locking would be an even bigger problem lol... (kidding)
Seriously though, take it to the dealer..

Yes, happen to me...I had my drivers door lock machanism replaced (actuator)...dealer told me this is a known issue so they had a few lock machanism in stock.
Also, you wil not be able to open the gas tank access flap either.

The weird part is that all of a sudden two of the doors don't work! If this doors were to ever "break" when I get into a crash, this would be a major screw up. If this is a known issue, why haven't I been sent a letter to take it in to get it fixed before it happens? By the way I got my car on March 30, 2006 and I just crossed 15k miles on the odometer.

Check fuse 56 and fuse 57 I believe. They are behind the glovebox. If either or is blown you can replace it temporarily but make sure to tell the dealer when you bring it in if it was blown. Sounds like one of your door latches is pulling too much amperage causing the fuse to blow. Yes its a known issue.

Well, fuse 57 is indeed blown. I replaced it with one of the spare ones but it didn't make any difference. When I got to the fuse box I discovered the fuse map and checked the other fuses involved with the locking. They are all good.
Any other ideas? Quote:

Which other fuse did you check? If my 1GB memory in my head is still in good working condition, I think these are the fuses associated with the door electronics (don't quote me but you should double check them). Yeah, they are a pain to get too being that they are hidden way deep behind the already small glove box and your door don't open so that makes the work area more cramy as well.
# 2, 19, 56, 57, and 53 But be warn that even if you replace the fuse, it will happen again. So a permanent solution (I hope) is to get the door actuator replaced. GL

Well, I checked the fuses that the fuse map said were involved. I'm at work now and don't remember, but I did check fuses 2, 16, 56,57,58,59...and a bunch others. All others were good.
I called the dealership this morning to make an appointment and the lady told me that it wouldn't be until next Friday if I need a loaner car in the meantime and I told her to please check with the service advisor first on this issue. The lady called back after 30 minutes and told me that I the service advisor said to just come in because this issue is an emergency and emergencies to require appointments. Will be going there during lunch.

My dealer took the car in and said they needed to replace 2 actuators on the 2 front doors. The SA knew about the problem, so I think this problem is more widespread than I thought.

Hey, when I called they told me to just come in because this case was an emergency. I don't know if they have the parts in stock but I sure got a loaner car and they're working on mine right now.
Apparently , emergency situations take precedence over just scheduling routine work because when I called the operator told me they didn't have a loaner car for me until October 19th. Just go in and tell them it is an emergency .

Doors wont unlock
I am having this same problem with my car. It started yesterday and now the car is at the dealership for repairs. Also, got a loaner.
This is really annoying and a safety issue. I have 48K so far on my car and had no other problems except for this. Anyone know how much this would have costs if car was out of warranty? Will |

No idea but they replace the actuators. Look at realoem ( I think that is the name).

Is this only an e90 issue?
Feel sorry for anyone that has lock covers. That would suck!

My E90's front passenger door lock is stuck in the down position as well
since yesterday. They had all acted up a couple of months ago but I thought it was a temporary glitch. With the child lock safety feature, the rear doors become unusable which to me sounds like a serious issue. |
