VMR V710 Finishes

Im looking to get the VMR V710s. I have an Alpine White 2009 E92 w/ sport package, gloss black trim. What finish rim do you guys recommend? (matte black, gunmetal, or hyper silver?)

I'd go with matte black. I'm saving for the same set of rims on my space gray car so I'm biased. I think white with black and tinted windows is a very clean look though.

If your car is otherwise stock, I would do the hypersilver. If you are going with a black out theme, then I would do the matte black for sure. However, you have to go with a more aggressive theme to pull that off (matte black front grills, dark tint, black out rear badge and dark tints at the least). Hypersilver is a good bet, you really cannot go wrong with standard silver IMO.

+1

He knows what he's talking about. MB wheels are tough to pull off on stock cars....if you can invest in dark tints, maybe smoked tails, MB grills....it should work amazingly well.

BTW the MB V710 on the AW E92 in the pic above looks incredible. IMO silver finish is wayy too boring. MB is much, much more aggressive looking. Gives it that racer look.

having installed countless sets of silver, gunmetal and matte black wheels on AW e92's, I am going to have to say that matte black and gunmetal dominate on this color. Gunmetal looks more like a factory option, since our gunmetal color is 99% the same color as the OEM BMW M3 18" wheels, where as Matte Black shows more of an obvious modification to the car, while retaining the look of a wheel that looks like it was designed by BMW. There just isn't a wrong choice with Gunmetal or Matte Black

Matte Black for white cars.

Gunmetal for darker cars.

The silver on these wheels is a paint so you would need to strip the wheel first to have it recoated.

They have a clearcoat on them as well, so yeah you'll have to strip the wheel get it powdercoated.

But gloss black would definitely 'pop' out more and be distinct.

Why get them powdercoated when you can easily get them from factory black? We've sold hundreds of matte black wheels out to e90 guys like these:

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me directly. I would suggest putting that money you would spend on powdercoating in your pocket, to spend on something else my friend!

I want a gloss black, not matte. All of my accessories on my M3 are painted gloss black to match the black shadowline trim. Grills, side gills, front lip and diffuser are painted gloss black.

gloss black would look good.... make sure that you get someone reliable to poweder coat them.

Also, we have done many M3 wheels and going with the classic hyper silver may surprise you with how good it looks on an AW car.

i plan on blacking out my grills and putting some 25% or 20% tints. So i figured the matte black would match that theme but I've also seen an AW E92 with the same mods w/ hyper silver and it looked so nice. And the gunmetal in the pic above looks so clean so im so undecided.

If you are going to keep the silver trim and still want to go with the black, why not go with matte black and polished lip? The matte on these is more like a satin or semi gloss. Shines, but you cant fix your hair looking in them.

Black with polished lip is SOOO played out and I see them everywhere and on everything. From cars that have no business with that kind of setup such as 16 inch ones on a jade colored altima to 03 camrys to bleh! X_x

Only certain cars can pull it off and yes an e92 can pull it off but you need the right wheels with the right size and the right parts from the rest of your car to pull it off. I'd just go with the mattle black, mb kidney grills, matching badges and call it a day. When u want more, you can always get a matching bootlid CSL trunk and diffuser for your rear, tints, smoked lights, etc.

my trim is black which is why i decided to choose the matte black V710s in 18". I thought that might not look too good considering their only 18" but I've seen e92s with 18" black rims and it looks really nice. IMO

now im not saying that 19"s look bad, everybody sporting 19" V710s, dont be offended. Even so that i prefer the 19"s but consider my warranty on the stock tires and the price, i think that counteracts the looks of +1".
