Okay. I sent the link to this thread to ESS and here is their response:

We will monitor the threads and see how they span out. Hopefully we can start R&D this summer.
Regards,
Asbjorn Bohn

We have got to keep this up. This is our best chance at getting something for real from a first class aftermarket manufacturer.

I'd settle for one from ARMA if the long-term reliability reports pan out...and if the price dips into the $6.5K installed range.

I will definitely have mine yet.

As some move on to other cars, others will move in line for the supercharger.

The older NA cars will be bargains and to add the supercharger to get the kind of HP ESS is talking about would be fantastic.

I would definitely get a SC for the car. I am actually rather impressed with how this car utilizes the power it makes stock. So a well setup SC would be even better. I at one point almost had Geoff from full race convinced we needed a turbo kit for the car. I could keep trying on that too. But for sure ESS if you are reading this there is a market and it will sell!!!

I have a number of concerns about forced induction in general for a long term car, particularly for a manufacturer which doesn't have a long history rooted in FI, but the design of the n52 only serves to amplify those concerns when added after the fact.

The question needs to be asked, given the widely accepted favorable reliability of the 328 in comparison to the 335, does this even make sense from any number of standpoints?

Given the prices of 335s at the moment and my belief that at some point down the line used prices will be very similar between the 2 models, it doesn't seem like a very practical idea to me.

If I needed faster, I would have purchased an m3. I chose to get a 328. Short of that, IMO your choices are between FI (335) for fun or (328) for long term reliability (and still fun if configured properly). And the "my 07 335 has 1xx,xxx miles problem free" is a straw man argument-its not even a 5 year old car yet

I would be interested in seeing a working product from any company. For the price point that is bar none the best deal (claimed) out of all the people in that race. However my money will only go to someone who can put up.

A well designed N52/53 SC will be more reliable than the 335. If not, then the design is a failure. You're probably right that down the line, the 335 will be similar to a comparable 328 in price though because few people want to deal with used, out of warranty turbos, especially those from the N54/55.

I'm waiting for AMRA to turn a year old with at least 15K KM before I take it seriously, even if it drops into the $6K range.

It is very risky for a company to take the risk in developing a supercharger kit. Lets be honest, not everyone here bought a 328i simply because they were concerned the 335i would have failures. I'm willing to bet that many of us on here (me included) considered the price difference more then then the reliability of the 335i. Could I have afforded a fully loaded 335i then I would have purchased one as it makes more power. If I could have afforded an M3 I would have bought one because it makes more power.

So if you are looking at developing one of these kits then one thing you have to consider is whether or not most 328i owners will be able to afford this kit or are willing to throw down the cash to be the test dummies. Sure you might be willing to buy a kit, but like many have said on here once the reliability is proven.

I would be interested...but is there anyway I could "beef up" my xdrive system to handle the extra power?

I'm in. Can't wait for it to happen.

I'm waiting to watch the price of 335's drop to where they can't give them away. Over 60-70,000 miles and HPFP goes, Turbos go, intake ports clogged with carbon from the PVC vent. Off leases that were previously modded and abused by the previous leasees will sit on lots. I will laugh as I drive by in my 328!

All the cars with the N54 engines failures at 75,000 miles will be the downfall of BMW.
