Software Update for 2006 E92 325i?

I have a 2006 E92 325i and been advised by my indie garage that there are updates available for my car, one of which is for the DME. I have been noticing slight knocking at low RPM and in higher gears. This is despite me having used BP Ultimate. Am wondering if a software update would help the situation? What are the benefits of a software update?

Also, I have an external light failure warning showing up on startup when none of the external light bulbs are faulty. The suggestion is that a software update might resolve this. I did see a couple of updates available doe the lighting modules. Any ideas??

Garage List
Snap. Mine Pinks as well even on V Power. A techy on here a while back advised me to leave alone if car drives fine. But I'm not sure. Mine has not been to dealer for about 3 years.

It doesn't affect the drive but just find it irritating!

I kept getting the external light failure without any visible lights failing and it turns out it was a "known" issue with the E92 rear light clusters. The contacts on the cluster were worn/corroded so BMW replaced the clusters under AUC warranty. FYI to get the error code of the bulb in question goto the check control option on the computer and press the BC button the scroll to the bulb warning and hold the BC button on the stalk it will display a code something like CC-ID XXX (XXX being a number) then go here https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/d...90+E91+E92+E93 and check for the number (first column) it should tell you what bulb it is. Mine was a reversing bulb which i why i couldnt see it! HTH
