Injector and coil packs -- 325I

I have a on going problem over the last week the car went in to limp mode and we called the AA out it has a £ucked coil pack on number 1 cyl lucky enough we had some spares so the guy kindly fitted it , Happy days till Sat when the light comes on and it goes into limp mode so AA again ,he said multiple coil pack failure 1 and 3 they were red hot so decided to get it in to the dealers on Sat afternoon

I phoned the guy today and had a chat he realed off all the warranty work on the car ,I said it has only just done 20,000 miles and it is very very poor ,This afternoon he called and said your car needs 6 injectors and they are the cause off the coil packs failing ???. someone help me out here this sounds proper weird .They have suggested to BMW UK , I require 6 injectors,6 coil packs,6 spark plugs at a cost off over £1000 , I have been asked to pay nothing for the parts and have been asked to pay for half the labour ,

I dont know what that is going to cost but as its 6 months out side the 3yr warranty thought it was rather good .

If any one can explain how a injector fault can bugger up a pair off coil packs please explain as i find it hard to belive

This 325I has had more problems than all the cars I have owned since 1981 ,This is no joke ,, I had a X5 with the 3.0 petrol in 2004 it was trouble free for 3 yrs this 2008 spec E90 325i with the 6 cyl petrol 3.0ltr has been a nightmare

Hi Will, yes its been a PITA from day1 . Its had the injectors replaced once all ready, hpfp issues , some engine knock sensor , coil packs ,etc etc.

I was hoping along with service manager that by replacing all the coil packs and injectors it would be a good thing and hope it is now fixed.I dont know what half the labour cost will be but will post it on here when I know.

If it's ongoing then you should not have to pay a bean.

They seem to be throwing parts at it rather than getting to the route of the problem. Genuine BMW parts have two years warranty as well don't they?

They said if they are supplied free there is no extra 2 yrs but if I pay a contribution then there is a 2 yr guarantee, parts replaced while under the 3yr warranty from new take you to the 3 yr only. So if aT 2yrs 11 months they replace something it would run out at 3yrs ie a months good will if you like .

Its a pita and I think the injectors HPFP and coils have been well documented from new as having issues ,What I am thinking is after 3 yrs the latest revised parts should fix it ? .I will pay the 50% and make sure I have the 2yrs on the parts ,wouldn't say I am happy but want it fixed asap .

Parts Price £996.05 labour cost £399.94 Total £1396 , I have had to pay £199.97 towards the repair , half the labour .

The car is 8 months out side warranty , It seams the dealer has done me proud in fighting my case with BMW .
