What is the best one to go with? I know Chip express is one out there, and VAC motorsports is another good one.

Anyone with experience please chime in. I have decided to go ahead and get a 335d instead of an m3.

Nice! And its significantly cheaper than the European modules, that cost around $600.

Does anyone have any experience or feedback with this JBD module? How does it compare to the others?

There's a new sponsor on E90post, Performing Imports, that offers a software rewrite that is read by the dealer as BMW software. It's a new offering, so I am not aware of anyone that has used it yet. It was written by a tuner in Germany, so presumably is the real deal.

This is interesting. I wonder if it's a euro map being sold in the US or if it's a map written specifically for US cars, our fuel, emissions hardware, etc...

That place is only a few hours from where I live. Although as race team employee I take major issue with their statement here:

Here at Performing Imports we do High Performance the right way. There is a BIG difference between building a race or track car and a High Performance street car. A track car or Race car is build for a very specific purpose and used only for that purpose. Also, race cars are used for one single race, then taken back to the shop and torn down and rebuild, so race parts do not have to meet a very high standard of quality because they only need to last for one race. The same is pretty much true for track cars.

To say that race car parts aren't built to high quality standard is asinine. If you were to say things like noise during operation, cosmetic appearance, etc... were not to the standard of an OEM I would agree. I mean who really wants brakes on their street car that stop incredibly well but, sound like nails down a chalkboard, or a transmission that howls like a werewolf. That said I guarantee the connecting rods, valve springs, dampeners, brakes, etc... that we use are all built to a much higher standard of performance/quality than anything he's ever bolted onto a street car.

That's a good point - I bet he meant to say that race parts aren't built for 4 or 6 or 10 year warranties, they are purpose built for difficult duty, with a shorter life span before replacement is due. You're right - race parts are built to very high standards - period. But - they aren't necessarily built with longevity in mind. I think that's what he meant.

I confirmed in another thread that they have a 335d tune, and in fact were supposed to install it in a car in the past week. They have not updated since then.

If someone is really interested, they can always call or email them.

I compared the current modules and chose the JBD. This was based on the following.

1. Easy to remove and re-install (like a trip to the dealer).
2. Adjustable settings.
3. Cost is very low.
4. Has a 14 day return policy if you aren't happy (which makes trying it a no-brainer).

I installed it on my 335d and at 90% the increase is incredible. It transformed the car into a true beast. I was so impressed that I just bought a second module to install on my wife's X5d.

Awesome thank you for the post. I think those are all huge benefits and it is easier to deal with a company if theyre domestic for sure. I think the JBD might be the winner here just on the cost alone. Despite not being able to remove the top speed limiter, but how often do you really go above 155mph in the states in a car. Prob not often. lol
