Headlight Amber Help
Hi all,
So...I have the 'amber delete' coding on my car, however, that damn strip of amber plastic is still visible and annoys the crap out of me... I know there are various overlays that you can stick on, but are there any other solutions to get rid of the plastic amber part of the headlamp? Also, any recommendations for shops that do lighting work in NY? Thanks again all. -L |

Do they take out the headlight and spray it from the inside? Or do they just tape up the outside and go at it? Thanks! |

You could always bake the headlights open and wrap the amber in sonic or something. I read that somebody has done it on here

The euro headlights aren't too expensive and shouldn't cost more than $500. If you're more of the DIY kind-of-guy like myself then this might be of interest to you. Good luck!

That DIY is not a good one if you have angel eyes which I assume you do. He demonstrates how to open halogen, non-xenon lights in that DIY and if you follow it to open xenon lights, you'll break the angel eyes. I know because that's how I broke mine. I posted an in depth DIY of opening xenons, how NOT to break the angels, and how to install LED angel eye rings awhile back but if you don't want to hassle with that, I'd recommend sending your headlights to Marc - user MDS82. I bought my silver carbon fiber covers from him to do the work myself, but he can also do the install. It'll cost a couple hundred more than painted overlays, but will be well worth it. Overlays look tacked on, his CF covers inside the headlight look OEM. Here's a couple of pics of mine in silver (also available in gray).

Yes, same Marc, I guess he changed his user name (or has a second one). The CF overlays I got from him were excellent quality and fit. I don't know that he wants to make the price public, but I will say I found them very reasonable. PM him and I'm sure he can hook you up with a set.

Wow 3times3,
I found your post on the DIY for the headlamp removal, gotta say I'm impressed...and your headlights look great! I'll be contacting Marc in regards to the overlays, but to be frank, I'm not even really sure how to take out the whole headlight unit haha, and I can't bear with leaving my car blind for a couple of days. Sigh, may have to end up going with the exterior plastic overlays from JLeviSW or Bimmian. |
