$670 to update maps on HDD nav? Really? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

This is the figure that BMW Toronto quoted me this morning. It seems completely extortionate. They claim they have to get a third-party company to come in and do it for them.

i have the 2009 HDD nav n haven't upgraded for this exact reason...haven't gotten a quote but i expect it would stupidly expensive and i rarely use nav.....plus if im really lost i can use my phone haha....just have to make sure the cops don't see it n gimme a ticket for using my phone while driving lol

That's crazy! Hello Garmin with lifetime subscription for half that. Slightly less convenient maybe but $700 every year or two.... forget that.

Really? Get an FSC code and Map DVDs from your dealer or from BMW Retrofit (should be $199 or so) and you can do it yourself in 3-4 hours or so. Here is a link from bimmerfest:

To be honest, the cop would prob just as likely pull you over for using your gps and driving...the law doesn't really say you can't use a cell phone in specifics, rather it says that you cant operate electronic devices while driving which includes gps's I'm sure.

technically using your iDrive while driving is breaking the law in Ontario. Though it's harder for the police to spot.

In the age of Jailbreaking/Unlocking Iphones/Pads, I'm sure there are less then legal means of acquiring the latest update and installing it.

FSC codes are not to be original and not original,this is just a sequence of numbers and letters,
it allows to install new maps or not,
To this day, none of my client did not have any problems
Since the majority of original maps used are purchased from dealers (5-10 dollars
and the code itself and you can guess accidentally

I bought my FSC code from SieraS5 above. Smooth and simple transaction through PayPal. He also responded to emails promptly. Overall, a great price and excellent customer service.
