E90 330d Bluetooth Options

Hi guys,

I've read through a few of the topics, I'm a techy, but more of a computer techy so I'm a bit lost reading through all of the bluetooth retrofit guides.

I'm in the UK, I've recently bought a 2005 330d SE Auto. The previous owner has a basic Parrot car kit fitted, but the quality was a bit crap, it had it's own speaker in the passenger footwell, and unless i shouted, the mic was muffled.

I have the i-drive, but alas no bluetooth in the car.

So a friend of mine recommended a Dension Gateway 500, with the BTA-1500 Bluetooth adapter. I looked into it and it said that it ties into the BMW software and it recognised the Dension bluetooth Adapter in the same way it identified the official BMW bluetooth and it worked within the communications menu of the i-drive.

Safe to say it's not been an easy ride, i had the Gateway fitted, then i had to go to BMW and have the bluetooth option 'enabled' in the i-drive. I was told i needed a software upgrade, so 100 later i have the bluetooth option showing.

Safe to say i didn't read the small print. When connecting my phone up to the bluetooth, the car says that i should connect to BMW 8xxx, as standard, but i connect to 'Dension BTA'. The car recognises my phone in the pairing menu, but won't drag down my data (phonebook, calls etc).

Also, here's the crapper, if you're listening to the radio, and someone calls, the i-drive won't register it, as you need to be in 'Gateway mode' for it to register the BTA module. So i have to constantly have it on CD5.. which is crap.

I want a proper, singing and dancing bluetooth option for my BMW, one that means my phone books is accessible through the i-drive, and no matter what I'm listening to, if someone calls, it will register. I have it on my X5 and it's great, however that's the family car and the missus uses that 90% of the time.

Can anyone recommend a solution that doesn't involve me spending 1000+ on wiring the whole car up to get the BMW Bluetooth kit fitted?

Much appreciated. And please be nice, this is my first post.

Sam
