Yeah, it's also 4,500lbs vs 3,600lbs... So probably pretty close in a straight line. Is this race a drag, or are there curves...?

Straight line drag race..I currently drive a 2009 E90 335i M Sport and and friend is taking over my lease. Looking at a 2012 550xi M Sport..i drove this car and let me tell you it is a BEAST!!

As timed by many 550 owners in the 5 series forum, it does 0-100km/hr in 4.6 seconds (totally stock)

With Dinan S2, some says it does in 4.2seconds. Note: The new F10 M5 does the same time trial in 4.4 seonds (based on factory spec.)

But .. we all know how easy and inexpensive it is to make the 335i go plenty faster

That means little. Tuned 550's will be just a susceptible to huge gains.

Having said that, there is a stock 550i on dragtimes doing 12.9 @ 109 MPH. Very impressive for the heavy beast, and much faster than a stock 335i.

Even a tuned 335 has a hard time beating a 550 those things are fast
My dad has one and i drove it a bunch of times and it keep on pulling in the top end where as the 335 tapers down a lot.
One magazine testet got 0-60 4.5 1/4 mile 12.8 which is faster or just as fast as a tuned 335.

12.8 is pretty slow...

Majority of the 335's who goto the 1/4 will demolish that time.

Lets not get off topic here...stock vs stock...550i hands down 0-60 and 1/4. if you compare a tuned 335i...then compare it to a tuned 550i...lose again!

My comment was based off of the comment above mine.... you could extract all the hp out of the 550i you want (with what's available right now) and it still wouldn't hang with a 335i with tune+meth.

Stock vs. Stock everyone knows the result.

And once the tuners start messing with the 550 a bit more, it will be a total beast.
