HELP: StopTech Stage 2 Brake Kit on e92 335i
I've been searching, but haven't found a definite answer. How does this kit perform? I keep seeing this set up is great, or it's crap... but never a reason why. So if anyone out there running this setup, could you please chime in?
1. Does it have less brake dust than stock pads? 2. Does the slotted rotors rust less than a year? 3. Greater stopping power than stock or same as stock?

So I'm guessing that no one is running these anymore?

Prolly there reason you are not getting many answers is that this kit cost in excess of $5K for front and rear..6pot/4pot
W/ that said I am planning to put the stoptechs BBK on my car next year and would love to hear answers to your questions..this is what I know for a fact as benefits: ~7lbs of unsprung weight savings per wheel Larger rotor and higer friction brake pad than OEM means much less brake fade. Vastly improved intervals between brake pad and rotor changes due to the fact that the whole setup runs cooler. Super cool looks... Are you tracking the car?..there is strong argument that these are a waste if your just street driving..it really boils down to your budget but there are tangible benfits |

That's what I'm doing... except for my rears are done already. The fronts seems to be indestructible, but I'm still deciding to upgrade everything anyways. I love the silver StopTech BBK but don't track, so would be a waste. Guess if no one give any input, I'll just try them out anyway and post the results.

The rears go quicker especially if u dont take off the traction control when u drive. I learned this when under warranty..my rears wore out in no time.. BBK is an expensive deal but the benefits are there..and their resale value ensures u will never be 100% out of pocket...plus they look so fawkin COOL>>> ![]() |

My 2011 E92 335i has hardly any brake dust. I can drive for two weeks without washing the wheels and there's only some dirt on them, no dust. I believe BMW is using different pads as of recent.
It still might be worth it to stick with OEM, unless this aftermarket kit is about the same price (in which case it's a no-brainer). You're looking at a couple hours of labor to get all that stuff installed so it's going to be a lot more than $800 or so. The brake lines especially.

. I just can't see paying someone to do something I'm capable of doing. I do and have done everything to my car myself, and if I can't do it... I'll just call a friend over that can. You have to network homie.

+1. Like you, I have SS brake lines and upgraded my pads and fluid for the track. (RS683 and Hawk HT10's) With my stock rotors and calipers, I can use that setup and not experience any brake fade, none, nada at the track. Watkins Glen is a very fast track with 11 corners...my buddy smoked his stock brakes in his 911. The point I'm trying to make is that our stock rotors are actually pretty good, and with the right brake lines and fluid we're good to go. A BBK looks flat out cool. I will admit, that the stock rotors won't last as long (especially with the stress of tracking) as a BBK. To the OP, if you're not tracking the car, get the BBK for cosmetics if you want to spend the money. |
