I wouldn't want to reset it. Then it would update it to another 15K until next service (or the year). Leave it the way it is so you can get the normal one at the normal time (this is what I have done).

great idea:
from a guy who knows nothing about my car, except how to drive it, at what miles/km should I have my first oil change, and what oil should I use.

I have 335 E93, sport package

thanks,

thanks,
Welcome to the oil wars. There are many, many threads on this subject.

In General

Oil: Anything with BMWs LL-01 approval. BMWs own oil from the dealer and Mobil 1 0W-40 (and only their 0W-40) are the easiest to find. Get the filters at the dealer if you are doing it yourself.

How often:

Option 1: Go with the BMW program.
Option 2: Do an extra change in between BMWs
Option 2a: Also do a change at 1500 miles (post break in).

It is an easy to DIY, and there is a thread with pictures in the DIY-Maintenance forum.

And if you have time, and want to be entertained,

If I were you, I would do my first oil change at 2000 km (following break-in period).

Other than BMW Performance Synthetic from the dealer, you can use Mobil1 0W40 or Castrol Syntec 0W30, these are all BMWLL01 approved. DO NOT use Castrol Syntec 5W30... it is not BMW LL01.

Since you are a canuck, you can also buy your filters (and any parts) from www.factorypartsonline.ca . The owner has had some site problems recently but you can just email him and he will kindly help with anything you want. His name is Martin.
