2007 335i sedan (E90) Battery replacement

Okay, so wow!!

A lot of info on this topic.....learned a lot and need to learn more.

Question:

As opposed to buying an OEM battery ($200.00) with a 2 year warranty I can purchase a Rayovac battery (BatteriesPlus.com) locally for $149.99 with a 3 year warranty/5 year pro-rated.

I plan on installing it myself and then taking it to get it registered.

My only concern is the slightly different speaks on the battery.

OEM 90Ah 720CCA

Rayovac (Item# SLI94RH7M) 100Ah 760CCA

So should I be concerned??? I read some guys beemer caught on fire!!

Thanks for the help

Accepted normal flooded batteries coded: 46AH, 55, 79, 90 and 110.

AGM that can be coded: 60AH, 70, 80 and 90.

It's your call if you want to put in a 100AH, it can either be coded as a 90 or 110.

Go to B&M NTB store. They have the battery you need.
Replaced one on my car 2007 328i W Nav for < $160.00 out the door.

Dont forget to use their online coupon for $10 off

Battery

I'm the one who's caught on fire Be careful in doing it yourself. There is a vent hose you don't wanna miss. Advance Auto actually can put theirs in for free, just make sure you take it somewhere to get registered or reset after they install, cause they do not do the reset for you.

if the battery Ah is different you will need the battery 'programmed' and registered. Programming will let the car know that the Ah is different, registering will reset all adaptions IRC.

With the box that clips on the top I'd probably verify that everything still lines up / clips on / locks the battery in place with whatever you chose. Personally I just got the OEM battery... my first one made it 5 years and was <still> starting the car... just had a black "magic eye". I figured with everything the battery does / has connected and hanging off of it... that it was worth the extra few bux for the OEM one that I know will fit perfectly and has the vent line in the correct spot, etc... (and then I registered it myself :-) )
