Price for a CPO 328i

Here's my original thread, but I wanted to get a region-specific opinion:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10677445

Basically, wife wants a "new" 328. We found one at VOB that's as follows:

2008 E90 328i Montego Blue w/ Grey Leather
33k miles
Sport, Premium, Cold Weather, Xenon, iPod/USB, Auto (so basically everything)
CPO to 6yr/100k

Original asking was $28.9k, dealer came back with $27.3k plus tax/tags (no fees). That seems to fit KBB/edmunds on a CPO car, but some feedback on the pricing section of the forum is saying $23-$26k.

I fired back with $25k and got a 'no'.

I'm asking here because I think that given the economy, car prices are very different across the country since some areas have been impacted a lot more than others.

Thoughts?

My experience with VOB was pretty bad. I could hardly get them to budge on price of an 09 328i. Ended up going somewhere else to buy a car.

If the price isn't right for you walk away and keep looking.

You'll always get much lower prices from feedback on forums than real world, if only because prices on the same car can really vary depending on which side of the country you are on.

When I was looking for my car I found that most bmw stealerships wouldn't really budge on asking price. It's funny because in my research I found that dealerships outside of the state were much more willing to negotiate on price than the ones around the DMV. Maybe it's just the cost of living or that these cars really do fly off the shelves? Not sure. But your experience with VOB is the same as the few cars I inquired about with them.

Personally I found a better deal out of state. I'd recommend see'ing if you can do the same and bring a quote into them for a similar car with the same options. That way you'll actually have some proof of why they can go lower on the vehicle.

Good point with the quote. I ended up getting my car from sun motors in Mechanicsburg, pa and they even delivered it at my house at no charge. Paid less than a similar model at VOB, and had nav. Great experience there!

I bought my car from northwest BMW. That being said, I d I got my car from them or tischer BMW. With a new or cpo car, your relationship is with the service shop, not the dealership.

I had very specific requirements for my 335xi and when negotiating with tischer I brought in ads from 4 other cars, one in TX, two in CO, and one in MA. got them to come down a grand off their original price. I still overpaid but got exactly the car I wanted. Never settle.

Agreed. When I got my car, I got everything I wanted but the exterior color. In hindsight, I'm very happy with it and wouldn't change a thing.

+1 on never settling. I was about to pull the trigger on a 335i at BMW of Fairfax one day because I was giddy. I had to go out of town, and the perfect car showed up at Tischer later that week.
