If people are doing as great of a job as MCF for 1,000$ then good for them. For two guys to wrap a car it may take 10-12 straight hours. For one person who is experienced it may take 18-20 hours. Vinyling is NOT EASY and is a labor intensive craft. Most of the time, it will be the same price as an OK paint job

I've never tried it before... But I hear it's not too hard... and I've been wanting to do it to my own car, but just haven't gotten around to it. I saw a guy install a Clear Bra on an Audi R8... But that was a pre-cut kit.

A GOOD and proper job using quality materials should be somewhere in the 2.5K-5K range depending on car size and complexity.

I know the materials alone can cost up to $3-800 for the vinyl depending what brand, thickness, and amount needed. Remember there is A LOT of wasted vinyl from cutting, mess-ups, etc...

Either way i'm willing to give it a shot if you get the materials.

I ordered some 3m gloss black vinyl and I'm going to attempt to wrap my roof. I'm going. Have a friend or 2 help me out and I'm going to use some videos I seen on youtube for help.

Yup it took our wrappers 3 days to wrap the cls.

Day 1 we removered all the emblems and pieces that were to be painted gloss black.
Day 2 was taking the fenders, bumpers, and door handles off and wrap them.
Day 3 was wrapping the rest of the vehicle and reinstalling everything.

Be careful with the carbon. Real 3m carbon film is hard to install. Take your tine with it

I love how easy this video makes it all seem. If only wrapping were that easy. PS minis dont have too many contours or weird body lines. Wrapping something like an Mtech bumper has to be done in several steps/ inlays. If you try to do it in one piece it will, a. take forever and b. need to use a lot of heat and stretching which leads to failure down the road (bubbles reforming, vinyl tearing, edges coming up, etc.)

I was in the same boat as you guys a while back, 3500$ to wrap my car was out of the question so I decided to learn and do it myself. Since then I have done a few more full car wraps and plenty of other pieces. I get better every time and the learning curve is huge. Take your time, learn the properties of the vinyl before you start and most importantly clean the car and be in a clean area while you do it. The next most important thing is to always have a sharp blade, use blades that snap so and snap off a piece every time you do a new panel.

No, roofs are not particularly difficult as long as you are familiar with the material and understand how it acts. With no experience roofs are do-able in an afternoon but please dont walk into it thinking its going to be cake. There are a lot of things you will encounter that will have you scratching your head. I wish you luck and please post up your experience! Im very interested to see what challenges you come across.

Also I dont know if you have purchased the vinyl for your roof kit yet but let me know, we are starting to make roof wrapping kits for people outside of the Helix area.
