i have asked on the idrive sun-forum, but i will ask here too:
Do any of you have a problem getting the dealer to update your Progman for you? I called my service guy and he pretends not to know what i am talking about. If you live in Miami and has a BMW service person to recommend, it would be much appreciated. |

You need to tell them there is a problem. Search for the SIB related to this and it will lists many reasons. 2 of the more popular: 1) slow idrive performance 2) Arrow display not visible when map is on the right screen. Take the SIB with you to the dealer and they will have to do a software update under guarantee.

I need to run more tests to check on this. But my 2007.2 does feel a lot slower to calculate a route. My 2006.2 was faster. I read somewhere that the newer disks have more data related to live traffic. not sure why this would make it slower.

1. Test of Quickness: This morning, when I got into the car, I immediately started the engine. (If you wait, the test isn't valid, because the second you open the car door, the DVD starts to spin and the system starts to download the software and boot up.) It took 20 seconds to give me the ACCEPT screen and another 12 to clear it all by itself, for a total of 32 seconds. I don't recall how long it took before, but I think it's a second or two faster.
2. Recalculation of Routes: It is the same speed for calculation of routes, and is just as fast (almost instantly) for recalculations -- maybe 2 seconds. I have DVD Version 2006.2 Larry |

You may not have been around long enough to know - you can't check your software version yourself (your question gets asked all the time around here). Your car has to be hooked up to the dealer's computer to see the software version. You can guess the version based on your build date and/or the font, menu structure, and features you have.

Just got 25.02.00 installed on my 335i. I did not have chance to play with it but noticed the following:
1) Faster boot up 2) Much faster to move around screens, scroll phone address book, etc.. 3) Seems slower when you are working with the navigation functions 4) Not sure i like the new colors but it is too early to judge 5) Love the POI search 6) Lost my NAV address book and all the settings BUT the phone was still paired 7) Phone pairing seems a bit faster (including the downloading phonebook part) more to come PS The BMW receipt says 25.02.00 ![]()

My experience is exactly the same as yours.
And, notice the darker blue background color on the maps. I think it's a lot harder to see the street names than the old light yellow/white background color. Larry |
