135i Brakes fitted to my E90

Hi all, just wanted to share my latest (and only) brake mod. I went the cheapo route and instead of getting the BMW PBK I just got a 135i brake set. Fronts were straight swap no modifications required at all. I also took a gamble and decided to buy a set of rear 135i calipers just to see if they could work. Straight up no, but that's because I need the 135i rear caliper carrier... duh. Even with that, I'm not too sure it would fit. Anyway at this stage I'm not too fussed about the rears as it will cost more time and money to try and find a solution. So for now.. I give you the fronts!

No idea. I had some heavy crap in the boot so I haven't tested them out yet. I've driven a mates 135i and they felt pretty grippy on his car, but I'll let you know what it's like.

swapping out the rears only requires a new dust shield, but not sure what model you car is so i can not say.

my 330i rear brakes are bigger than 135 rear, so you may benefit from only upgrading the front.

looks really nice - I was previously told this wasn't possible! Are these the regular brakes painted yellow? I can't make out the BMW writing that's normally on the factory 135 brakes..

These are the OEM 135i calipers that I've had coloured yellow instead. It's the same thing as the BMW Performance caliper.

Well I had heard this and thought it would be easy so I also got the rear calipers, but it seems that I also need a carrier for it. We tried but it didn't work straight up. However I am talking to the shop owner about possible solutions and getting in a few extra parts to see it if it can be done easily. Also minor problem with one of the rears is that the piston wasn't put back in properly after being painted. The seal also looked a little worn so the brakes need a little work anyway before I try put them on again.

Yep these are just regular 135i brakes painted yellow. The BMW writing has been painted over. It was a straight swap over for the fronts, no modifications needed - just shield/brackets/calipers/rotors I think - and it went straight on no problems! It's a much cheaper and effective option compared to the BMW Performance kit.

To put it in perspective - My local dealer in Sydney wants $4000 usd for the BMW PBK front. Buying from the USA means the part price will be cheaper at approximately 1k +/- a little bit for just fronts, however these are heavy mofos so shipping will be a lot of money + tax when they arrive here. I got both front/rear 135i set up + painting + install and still have change from $2000usd so this set up is a winner in my books. If I didn't paint them then I would have also saved about $500.

It looks good, but there is arguably little performance benefit from doing this since you downsize the front rotors.

I don't have a 335i so this is an upgrade in every way.

Looks sharp! I just bought the Performance Brake kit from another member:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=592929

Cant wait to put it on!

Something for you to think about:
For that space where it says "BMW Performance" IM going to get a carbon fiber overlay and stamp out "Brembo" in white. It's gonna look sick!

I just got my caliper sticker on today but haven't got any pics of it yet. It's a custom logo for my new partnership with some friends.
