Help!! Shaky steering wheel during acceleration

I've posted this on X5 forum but afraid I won't get any response so figure I'd post it here in case some of y'all might have experience with X5.

I bought a 2001 X5 a couple of years ago and we have replaced a few suspension parts in the past. Air spring in the back to the control arm in the front, etc.

However recently we've been experiencing the steering wheel shakes violently during medium to strong acceleration. I've checked all the bushing and they seem to be in good shape.

Before I bring it to the shop or do it myself, I want to get some feed back from you guys what to expect and to see if anyone ran in to this problem before.

Thanks,
tilua

Causes shaking at certain speeds (usually around 60~70mph), but not on acceleration.

It can cause it on acceleration as it can be alot more noticeable, especially on hard acceleration.

Shaking can be anywhere from 40-70.

Definitely a good cheap place to start.

It's definitely not the wheels since I just got them balanced and it doesn't shake when traveling anywhere from 0-90mph with out accelerating. So far im thinking of the CV joint/axel.

CV joints rattle when you turn but if it's a bent axel it would shake but also it would pull to one side. Check all the bushings. Worn bushings cause the wheel to shake but it wouldn't be only on throttle. Strange.

A worn drive shaft center support bearing can cause the car to shake under hard acceleration.

Do you have another set of wheels you can try mounting up?

A bent wheel can balance perfectly on the machine but the bends can cause vibrations throughout the chassis.

If you're on a square setup, try moving the fronts to the back. The vibration won't be felt as much in the steering wheel but the vibrations will cause premature wear on your other suspension components.
