ipad / tablets with screen protector

The case and screen protector for my ipad came this morning

It ended up being screwed up in a ball of rage. The stupid fkin thing, wouldn't go on no matter how hard i tried. Bubbles everywhere, even dust free.

I've never had a problem applying screen protector in the past, even to the ipad 1.

Do you use the protectors or not bother? Anyone had a scratch and regretted not having a protector?

I dont know if screens are more durable these days but the last time i scratched a screen device was about 6 or 7 years ago. I'm thinking of going without even though my 3 year doesn't really treat my gadgets with respect and loves the ipad.

On my I-phizzle 3Gs the screen was an abomination because I never used one.

On my current 4 I have a hard bumper case and a screen protector, I too cant get them on right and has bubbles but just given up trying to make it look good.

I have a protector on my Ipad, if you have a bit of patience its not a difficult job. I have often lost the plot with simple things and destroyed them in rage.

Feels good though LOL

Managed to get a screen protector on mine with only one small bubble. Apart from protecting the screen I think that it makes it nicer to use as it is not cold to the touch.

A friend at work did mine on my Ipad for me. He sat in a quiet well lit meeting room with a ruler, sellotape, cleaning cloths and it was like a surgeon going to work.

Mine has one of these on it. Not cheap but find a person who knows what they are doing and you will have an excellent aniti glare protected screen.

Invisible shields are the best, not cheap but they are easier to fit than others.

I'm terrible with them. Like briers I always end up lobbing them in the bin after numerous attempts. It's just one of the things I'm seriously cack handed at. But I've got a mate who can apply anything to anything first time, no problem, done. It amazes me.

the one advantage of buying from an apple store is that if asked nicely, their in-house putting-on-film expert will do the honours for you..I have had 2 screen protectors put on 2 items and bubble free...the other sneaky advantage is that if they screw up, then they replace FOC

I would gladly pay someone to do a good job of putting one on with the rage from my encounter earlier.

Solihull Apple store not too far either!

Dont bother. it took me two goes to get on the ipad (first one, same as you was a write off).

It seemed to slightly blur the screen....which defeats the point of the Apple quality.

Glad I persevered.

Found my three year old trying to draw on it with a pen today.

Screen protector was very scratched but screen unmarked when I replaced it. thank god...

I wouldn't bother with a screen protector on the newer kit as they all have scratch resistant screens. Unless you're a total baffoon and smack it into walls all the time, it won't get damaged. I find the protectors make the touchscreen less pleasant to use - it somehow takes some of the response and smoothness away.

My iPhone4 is well over a year old, has never had a screen protector and apart from fingerprints, looks much as it always has done. On my iPad2, I use one of this magnetic covers that goes over the screen and doubles upas a stand...a great design!

Wait till there are some littlenuts running about and then let us know

And to be fair, our old 3GS only ever picked up 1 visible scratch in the hands of a child. Lots of minor scratches but they weren't noticeable with the screen on. Survived multiple drops too.

I had a scratch on a one week old iPhone 4, and I'm very careful, luckily the camera packed up and the whole thing was replaced under warranty, which was subsequently replaced under warranty last week again after the power button failed. Not much luck so far...

But yes, I put screen protectors on them all now

I've found the cheap films don't work as well as the expensive ones.

The cheap ones seem thinner which would make you think they would work better.

For all the trouble fitting one, I feel it's worth having one in place as something will mark it at some point.
