High Miler 535d's - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I've been offered a 535d on a 06 quite cheap - but it has 118k miles on the clock. It has a full service history - but how good are these engines and is there any common faults that start showing up when the car starts reaching these sorts of miles?

We have a 535d on the fleet that's done 140k+ now
It's been mapped since brand new (DMS map).
Still goes like a rocket ship.
No issues at all.
Not sure if it's the norm or not, but ours has been great

I think it's a 55 - it's been ina private plate since a week after first reg. I'll dig out the V5 on Monday when I get to the office and let you know.

We have an 07 320d on 135k and an 06 530d on 105k on the fleet at work. The 320 needed a turbo recently but apart from that both are faultless.

i have a 530d on a 57 plate that runs on 19 inch non runflats i must say on the motorway 80-90 the 5 series is in a league of its own, get cruiser,i think there better made the 3 series too

We've got 2 530d's with over 150k and they are driven hard every day with no issues.
We've just sent another 530d out to pastures new on 218k!
On 08/58 plates by the way

What sort of cost does that involve?

I think the upside of having a high miler is that you're paying next to nothing to purchase it - so even if there are small issues, the over all cost of ownership is still very cheap to having a, say, 09 -onwards where there will be an obvious £8-10k premium from the beginning.

I've never been one to buy older model cars - but I think the 5 series, especially in touring guise, still looks really nice and will age very well.

I think $tealers charge about £1200 for replacement.

DPF's can be removed reasonably easily, then coded to suit.
Check out 5series.net for more details (user anzafin is the authority on these and swirl flaps)
