Unhappy Titanium Silver spoiler color doesn't match

Does anyone find his/her titanium silver spoiler's color doesn't match with the car color?

I just found out that my car's color is a bit darker than the spoiler and more shiny because the metal particles on the car are bigger than the spoiler ones.

i heard there are like 7-8 titanium silver colors that are produced from BMW. All different depending on the factory it was made.
There were 4 or 5 different Alpine White colors when I went to paint my spoiler at a shop.

I got it from ebay $275. The seller is a BMW dealer, BMW Cleveland.

Maybe I should just try Bayarea's dealers, although I probably have to pay full price for it.

Wow, 4 or 5 different Alpine White colors you say. Thats gotta be really difficult to match the two, rearspoiler and car.

The different alpine white colours aren't different factories. They are the different evolutions of the colours, as the model changed. My E46 was called Alpine White III which is slightly different to Alpine White II .

It's easy to match the colours - they all have specific codes, which can be translated into exactly what amount of each colour they have in them. A good body shop can match is EXACTLY.

I was going to order from Circle BMW but based on your experience I will reconsider. If you find a match, could you let us know the dealer in the Bay Area.

The spolier is made of plastic , so it does not have the same number and types of "paint layers" like the car's body.
Only because silver is more noticeble under light.
It is normal. All cars have same situations except whether one is more obvious than the other.
I would not think it looks worse than if the wheels are dirty.

I wouldnt worry much about it, for the way the spoiler sit in the car, it can hardly be seen and noticed.

But I can really tell the differences. Anyway, UPS has picked up the spoiler and sending it back to the dealer.

I will give BMW of San Francisco (my CA) a shot. But if there are really 7-8 different variations, it will be tough

ase2dais, I love your spoiler DIY. I was thinking of following it step by step, but if I can't find a color that's closer to mine, I will have to live without one. It's still beautiful with or without the spoiler.

Could it be that my car which was built in October, but the spoiler was painted before that, and BMW somehow changed the paint formula in between?

I have thought about that also. It was because the part # on spoiler was the primed one, but the box I received had the titanium silver part #.

I think I will send an email to as BMW NA to find out. Definitely I will because I really want the spoiler.

A car few years old color does change a bit. A fresh color might also need time to cure.

Not saying there is anything wrong.
