Stett CAI and Charge Pipe with Forge DVs installed - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I installed my Stett CAI and CP with Forge DVs on Thursday night which ran into the early hours of Friday morning. I must say that Stett makes a quality product that looks great in the engine bay and performs well.

The throttle response is definitely improved and it pulls harder through the RPM range. The intake sounds great under heavy load and I can actually hear the turbos spool now. The forge DVs make a nice sound as they release pressure but not annoying loud *cough cough BOV.

These mods will go great with my ETS intercooler which will be installed tomorrow and my AR downpipes which should be installed next week then Stage 2+ here I come

Did you wrap your CAI during install to avoid chips?

I did not and I didn't see any after the install. I did see formerboastedis's thread where he wrapped them but I did not.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Were there two different charge pipe versions available? One for before April 09', and one after?

I am not sure. I purchased from a guy in the fs section.

Great review and sweet looking intake. All you guys with custom color intakes make me wish I went with something different than basic black.

Looks good OP. You have very similar mods as me. I'm looking into the Stett CP DV combo now; what colour springs are you using on the DVs?

When I purchased the intake brand new, it came tightly wrapped in clear plastic. I left that on while installing and removed it upon completion. The outcome was great with no scuffs or scratches.

Thanks! I believe I left the green ones in for now.

You need to take the green ones out because for our application the yellow is the best suited for 14-18 psi

Nice looking, but it makes me wonder whether the tight bend and sharp transition to the bank 1 turbo will disrupt flow. I'd rather see a larger transition shape, similar to a formed intercooler end tank.

Installed one of these on my buddy's car. If you're careful, there's no real chance to damage the paintjpb

My power steering reservoir sometimes touches the intake and rubs under heavy acceleration, that's the only place I've seen any scuffing of the paint.

My power steering reservoir is against the intake as well. I need to do some slight adjustments to give it a bit more room. I also bought lower grilles from a 328i since they are black and half of it is completely blocked off so today I need to paint my original OEM grill black and remove the blocked off section.

Looks good OP, I love my stett cai and cp. The cp has never blown off and cai does sound good. With that said my cp will up for sale soon.

LOL, mine touches the power steering bracket as well. I cut out a little piece of foam padding and taped it there to prevent damage.

The intake does not touch the PS reservoir if properly installed. I got my buddy's at least half an inch of clearance when I installed it. Try moving things around a little. It's definitely possible.

good choice in mods, great minds think alike

some advice, if you are looking at OCC in the future, you will have to get one with a passenger side mount (i.e. AR) due to the CAI. I have v1, you have v2, but both block the commonly used driver's side mounting place for the OCC
