DV's?

How do I know if my dv's are on the way out? I hold boost but between shifts the boost climb in sometimes shakey or delayed. Also I made a post before about hearing sputtered noise at part throttle, I wonder if the dv's are the cause of this too. I know its not the turbo or the waste gate just had them replaced. (Mods: DCI, AR dp, PROcede v5 rev 3)

The stock diverter valves are plastic and overtime can of course break down and cause boost leaks. An upgraded diverter valve is an ideal upgrade for anyone who is running higher boost (software or tune) and a necessity if you would like greater boost response and of course to prevent boost leaks!

The Following dyno chart was completed using a 1M, ONLY changing the stock diverter valves to the Turbosmart Diverter Valves. The graph shows the stock diverter valves leak boost, especially down low where it counts. Just by switching them to the Turbosmart Diverter Valves gains in torque are realized throughout the RPM range, with gains of over 25 Ft./Lbs down low.

The following dyno shows manifold pressure, and how just by switching to the Turbosmart Diverter Valves boost pressure is maintained.

I plan on upgrading my DV's as well, but from what I've read the stock one's hold boost pretty well to a certain extent. I've read stories of people never even having to replace them while running like 18 psi. I think you should be okay for now, but eventually upgrade it if you plan on going FBO.

I too am curious about this. Other than boost, what parameters can one log to ensure there are no leaks under WOT? WGDC?

Send a message via AIM to ar design
I would definitively upgrade the DVs - Forge makes a really nice set as well.

Yeah I plan on going full bolt on, also on cold nights when its like 30 out I spike 18 :/ for a little bit. So maybe its time I should upgrade them. Thanks for all the input. Also when I just replace the DV's should I replace the charge pipe with it?

Check out my boost between shifts. I know its hard to see but I did the best I could. Does this look like a DV problem? I let off after it bounced the second time.

That was an interesting information. Thank you it now makes send why when I boosts at part throttle I hear a shutter noise its probably leaking a tiny bit at low boost, then is fine up top. Also Im running a PROcede v5. You think its doing that because I'm spiking 18 and haven't raised the max boost limit?

Raise it and see if it changes things then report back.

Ok well it finally stopped raining! So I adjusted the max boost limited too 19 because
sometimes I spike 18, and the same thing still happens from 3-4th the cars boost drops then jumps to 18 then back down and then back up. May do some logging tonight to see what's up it drives me crazy! I want to be able to throw it into 4th with no worries!

Bringing this thread back to life, because I'm still having this problem and cant seem to figure out what it is. Every time I try and go a log it doesn't happen! But of course when I'am not logged it happens like clock work! I also notice it happens more likely when its decently cold out. My current mods are Vishnu V5 rev3 11-25maps stg3 map 1, DCI, AR Downpipes, AMS Intercooler, Vishnu charge pipe with Forge DV's. Has anyone else had this problem?
