Is it worth it???

Selling/giving away/trashing my jb4 for a cobb tune? I understand cobb is around $800 but is it worth it for me (someone with a tune) to get it.

Give me your JB4 for free, so i can sell it, then you can go buy the cobb tune

If you were in my position (no tune at all), Cobb is a great choice. But since you already have JB4, there's really no point in switching over to Cobb.

I think with the Cobb you're buying a safer tune. Worth it if you're keeping the car IMO.

Keep JB4 and buy Cobb. I know Lance was talking about running both. JB4 for dash override and Cobb for the solid tune.

Well, I've heard Boom's argument. IIRC, his argument was that piggieback systems basically override the system (forcing stock tune to stay at the same point longer in the power band) rather than Cobb/GIAC/etc that actually replaces the stock tune with a tune specific for the car. But I could be mistaken.

COBB, Procede and JB4 are all good tunes....each has subtle advantages/disadvantages to each other....safety has proved to be a NON issue for piggybacks....the BMW ignition safeguards work very, very well.

The JB4 continues to get better and better....I have owned since the JB3 and the tune continues to impress me. Terry is constantly improving the firmware which can be felt.

Cobb makes the same power with a richer a/f and less timing and similar boost. I believe part of their success is due to banks manipulation which will help the head flow better essentially improving the volumetric efficiency of the engine to achieve the result. The piggies don't touch the valve timing so they are at a disadvantage. Additionally they cannot manipulate injector pulse width and so run out of fuel close to 500 whp. Cobb can manipulate ipw so hopefully there is more potential there.

This is what lance was talking about...http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14469

I really don't understanding anything about logging but if someone can make this out and tell me in dumb term I will be greatly appreciative. This is probably a stupid question can you use a single cobb tune on a number of cars? Like for instance I buy cobb tune and let lance use it because I don't understand this jb4/cobb together thing and later use it on my car, or if that works ill pay someone with the cobb to tune my car.

You can only use the cobb accessport on one car at a time allen. If you went to sell the car though, the cobb accessport can be removed and sold to someone else who could use it. While you are using it though, it can not be used on other vehicles.

I would say stick with the JB-4, cobbs tune is just too conservative but to each its own
