Brake Change for 2011 E90 328

Does anyone know if BMW change the brake pad for 2011 yr model?

My gf has almost exactly same car as mine, except that her car is a 2009 model, whereas mine is a 2011. I've noticed quite a bit of brake dust on her wheels, whereas mine has no brake dust that I've noticed.

Also, her car brakes significantly better than mine, which got me scratching my head a bit.

Only thing I could think of is that her car was originally a demo car; does dealership "tuned" the brakes on demos?

It seems that they did change brake pads in 2010. Mine has no brake dust in normal driving, you can start noticing it after a weekend at HPDE. If you measured stopping distance between two cars from the same speed, they would probably be about the same if not identical. What I heard people say about the difference is in initial bite and that's why the older ones feel better or, as you said, significantly better.

More brake dust and better initial bite on the older car leads me to believe BMW may have changed to a harder brake pad compound on the newer cars. My guess is they got a lot of complaints about brake dust and needed to appease the masses.
