y dont u just run no lid? and no filter for max hp gain.... besides maybe sucking up something lol

No because with the lid removed theres nothing being filtered. The part to the right of the box which is open via stock or aftermarket filters are where the inlet runners are for the IC. If you remove the lid, open engine unfiltered air is just going through.

I didn't feel much difference, but it was free. I don't like foam filters.

Good work Terry. Those fins can't be good for airflow. I think most of these guys would be shocked by the number of small free mods we did in the ls1 community. The stock ls1 airbox had fins just like those in your picture, all the aftermarket units were completely smooth (for obvious reasons).

I like messing around with that sort of thing. If I have enough spare time I'm sure I'll be right there... hmm, I wonder if we can do a ported TB on these cars.

Anyone have interior pics of the stock throttle body?

That argument holds for every single mod possible.

In my experience many airboxes are designed for cost reasons, and to keep the intake noise to a minimum.

Heh I'm not sure if I'd be able to bring myself to use JB-Weld on a new BMW.
