As long as they're at it, might as well start working on an upgrade for n55...I'm dead serious

![]() Vas is right though, making of the exhaust manifold and slapping on a turbo is not the hard part of this car. It is getting the tuning down and the fueling. My intention is not to discredit the people actually making these setups as it still is a time consuming/labor intensive task to fabricate/engineer ETC However the main prize is who can make the good power on pump gas first at a fair value. Vishnu should have a one up on everyone in my personal opinion, but I'd be inclined to see what others can do. |

And yes; I fully agree with the pump gas statement... 500 WHP on pump 93 without meth at low boost. ![]()

I feel like I'm suffering from "boy who cried wolf syndrome" and almost can't get excited about this anymore... I think it's been since 2008 that I've read about these threads and followed let down after let down. Not wanting to rain on anyone's cheerful spirits, maybe I've been reading on e90post for too long lol |

well with about 4 single turbo kits in development, hopefully 1 will make it into full scale production...looks like I need to start saving now

As with any DI motor, fuel is the limiting factor once you set out to exceed 85ish hp per cylinder. At Aviva, we believe we can solve this problem in a simple, elegant, cost effective manner in keeping with the original design, but without its limitations. Full Race makes very nice fabricated manifolds. Aviva prefers to provide a more OE fit, finish, and function, also without its chief limitation. Choice is good. ;-) I look forward to seeing what Geof and his folks come up with. -Michael

At this moment I think that HPF will be the one to beat. Vishnu's kit looks great, but I thought Shiv said it's a one-off for now. HPF is known for super powerful, uber-expensive turbo kits. A competitor needs to come in cheaper, with comparable power or more. That's why I say HPF.

I'm happy with all the power I get on my set up. Full FBO plus meth= 420whp/487lbs, stock exhaust. Add 10/15 to each when I install my exhaust. that's perfect for me, if I want more power I'll just move to another platform but I'm content with my e92 now.
Band aids here and there to get up to 500/600hp on a car that's not gonna be reliable after all the mods and money spend, no thank u.

On a 6 cylinder motor? LOL, why do you say that?
With a proper twin scroll turbo; you can have a fantastic powerband with that powerlevel; even Evos do with a 2.0L displacement.

However, before I'd sink $10k into some single turbo kit I would have to consider long and hard about trading to another platform.

Go youtube the Amuse Supra and Mines Skylines using the GT30 kit... it's not even a 35R but makes ~500whp on a 3.0L engine and ridiculous torque. Spool is damn near instant and the tach is SCARY to watch... like it's spring loaded.
500whp should not be powerband limited, but I agree that if you came from the world of BMW's and chose an N54/55 car as your first "big single upgraded" car, you will be in for a rude awakening. The really hard part for developers is making a kit with headroom (700whp capable?) without losing the powerband and having a bunch of angry (or rather, uninformed/underexperienced) customers. Those of us with prior 400whp+ 4cyl experience will be in for a treat as long as you didn't get to used to the 1900rpm torque peaks ![]() |

. But 500WHP on pump with no octane aid means you're running a pretty sizeable, pretty laggy turbo. Coming from a twinscroll big-turbo 2.5L 4-cyl background, I've developed a serious dislike for lag. |

Oh really? If that is the case then I stand corrected. I was under the impression that Shiv had said they had no plans of going into production. Hopefully he'll pop in and let us know.

I think he might have mentioned that in the beginning but as of recently he mentioned that with the cost and efforts going into the project it would be wasteful not to go into production.
