ADVAN Performance, N54 "Complete Cooling Solution", Pre-delivery GROUP BUY
Hey Gents,
I am pleased to introduce to you all, the ADVAN Performance, N54 "Complete Cooling Solution". This is currently in the design and fabrication stage. However we plan to have both the Stage 1 & Stage 2 kits readily available for sale, in very early 2012. We are currently offering a Pre-delivery GROUP BUY on both kits. Exact pricing and component specifics, of the ADVAN Performance "Complete Cooling Solution" to follow shortly. In the mean time for those that are a little curious as to what the kit contains, here are one or two pics. ![]() Cheers, Peter. Yes,
they most certainly do. ![]() The PWR "Street/Track" radiator is a very nice unit. The rad' pictured has been installed in our 135i R&D vehicle for some time now, with no issues whatsoever. ![]() After we provided PWR with some exacting measurements, they had to make some very minor changes for the 135i unit, over that of the 335i unit that was already available. However I can tell you that fitment is perfect. ![]() Whilst we have not test fitted the rad into a 335i, I am quite confident fitment will also be spot on, as the design by PWR was originally intended for the 3 series vehicle. Thanks, Peter. Last edited by skycat; 12-21-2011 at 08:15 AM. Reason: Typo |

Skycat, with me coming from an iron block closed-deck 4g63t and seeing that you chaps are pushing these cars to their limits, would you put a safe/reliable HP/TQ number to the N54?

it is very interesting, that you make mention of the non iron, open-deck block of the N54. With all the speculation surrounding the pistons, I would have thought there would be more discussion regarding the inherent potential for failure, as a result of the block design. Looking at images of the deck, it would seem there is very little distance between cylinder walls. Given the open deck nature of the block and the minimal cylinder to cylinder clearance, there is a possibility at a certain power level the cylinder liners will start to "walk". If they do, then it is bye bye head gasket. This is of course total speculation. The N54 power plant could be good for another 125-150 wheel horsepower or it could fall over within the next 50. ![]() Unfortunately without "solid" information from BMW, there is no real way to know the horsepower limit of the N54. Of course following the spectacular failure of an engine, the subsequent pull down and close inspection, will provide some very useful data. Though it sucks to be the owner of that particular vehicle. ![]() Last edited by skycat; 12-24-2011 at 01:53 AM. Reason: Typo |

Hi guys,
following test fitments of our Stage 1 (19 row) and Stage 2 (25 row) Earl's oil cooler, we discovered that there is no way to position them ideally to achieve maximum airflow through the core. Unfortunately if we were to use the original oil coolers we had in mind, they would not be operating at their full efficiency. ![]() As such we have decided to now go with a Setrab core that allows for the most ideal mounting location, thus maximising the potential transfer of heat from the engine oil. ![]() Here are some pics of the 15 row cooler that will be used in our Stage 1 kit. Yes, it is installed in our 135i, however once both kits are squared away for the 1 Series, 335i kits will follow very soon thereafter. Our Stage 2 kit will utilise a 20 row cooler that is of the same width and depth. FYI, the brackets and mounting hardware you see are purely just to confirm correct fitment. The finished brackets will be made of 3mm steel, that has been laser cut and powder coated black. The fasteners etc. will also be of the highest quality and obviously more discreet. ![]() Lastly we have decided to make our Stage 1 kit as affordable as possible, by doing away with the external thermostat and associated hardware, that we have in our Stage 2 kit. As a result the 15 row core kit will be significantly cheaper than our original pricing and very much aimed at those guys who are on an "entry level" budget. Hi Gents,
here are a few more pics of our Stage 1 oil cooler, installed in our 135i with the prototype bracket. As you can see the kit will retain the use of the OE brake duct. FYI, in contrast to the Stett oil cooler kit that was previously installed, you will NOT have to remove the entire front bar, just to fit up the mounting bracket. ![]() Obviously the latter pics illustrate the Stett kit, as the front bar has once again been removed for temporary fitment of the original oil cooler. The installation of our Stage 1 & Stage 2 kits on a 135i, will be much simpler and less labour intensive. ![]() Cheers. |

Hi guys,
I just wanted to reiterate that the fantastic GROUP BUY prices we are currently offering, were intended to be "Pre-delivery" only. Given that we are looking to have the 135i kits completed by the end of January, we may continue the GB throughout the first half of Feb. However once the GB period has expired, the cost of the ADVAN Performance, N54 "Complete Cooling Solution" will be as follows: - The Stage 1 kit that features a 15 row "Setrab" oil cooler & "PWR" radiator will be available for $1,795.00 - The Stage 2 kit that features the 20 row "Setrab" oil cooler & "PWR" radiator will be available for $2,145.00 Once again this will be exclusive of shipping. As you can see the "Pre-delivery" discount we are offering for both the Stage 1 & Stage 2 kits, is quite substantial and to the tune of $350 Aus. ![]() Last edited by skycat; 01-13-2012 at 02:47 PM. Could you provide an itemized list of what both stages include? It is still a little vague as to what each package includes. Might help garner some interest by clarifying things a bit.
BTW, great job taking the initiative to put together a holistic solution with great parts and what looks to be a great price! |

that is an excellent suggestion and I will do so. But to be honest whilst our 135i kits are now locked down regarding final component choice, our 335i kits may differ somewhat. The 335i front bumper fog lights may prevent us from utilising the same 15 row & 20 row "Setrab" cores. Whilst the 135i front bar allows for ideal positioning of a single extra wide core, the 335i front bar does not. However whatever alterations we make for you 3 Series guys, rest assured the finished product will be of the highest quality and consistent with the thought we have put into our initial 135i kits. ![]() By the way thank you for the kudos. ![]() I hope you will have a close look at our 335i kits when they become available in the near future. Cheers. Last edited by skycat; 01-13-2012 at 10:21 AM. Reason: Typo |

Looks good!
How far is the 335i option from being complete? With the Setrab core, do we have to remove the OEM foglights? It also looks like you are remove the brake cooling duct which is not a good idea. Please, clarify on this a bit.

thank you! Given that we are on track to have our 135i kits squared away by the end of the month, I imagine we will have our 3 Series kits completed by the end of February, at the very latest. ![]() We have no intention of removing the "OEM foglights" when designing our 335i kits. I cannot imagine many 3 Series owners would like the idea of that. FYI, we have only removed the front section of the duct work. The rear section is still very much intact. It will sit against the rear surface of the core and we will have a rubber grommet or boot made to suit, to enable a snug fit. We will also ensure that the oil lines are run, so that the brake duct is positioned on the cold or return side of the cooler. Cheers. Last edited by skycat; 01-17-2012 at 09:31 AM. Reason: Typo |
