No BMW Certified Repair Center with 160 miles
I haven't been in a wreck or anything, haven't even taken delivery of my Bimmer yet, but in reading the advice of forum members in another thread about demanding a BMW Certified Repair Center be used to repair my Bimmer in the even of an accident, I have a question.
I went to the BMW website, and the closest BMW Certified Repair Center is 160 miles away in Jacksonville. In the even that I'm in an accident, am I SOL? I'm leasing, if that matters. Thanks for the (hopefully unnecessary) advice. |

No, that's not the point.
It's a huge pain in the ass. I use their towing and have to basically find a ride to the repair shop (2ish hours away), then drive my car back every time it needs something.

So I might not have to spend 5 hours driving up and back to retrieve my vehicle?

FYI I have Progressive, car broke down and their policy is 15 miles or closest certified dealer...they towed it 200 miles at no cost....but repeated to me 10x this was an "exception."
Also, I have some "conceriage" service, so not sure if its included in all policies.

For most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the BT Tool or Peake Research Tool. They contain the actual BMW codes as opposed to a generic OBII scanner. Pays for itself on the 1st scan. http://www.bavariantechnic.com/ OR
http://www.peakeresearch.com/ (less expensive, but does not reset battery info) |

The plan I paid for is good for 4 tows per year, up to 100 miles. I should be able to use them whenever I want. Car working or not. They even agreed with me on this. It's a stupid policy.

Ask what kind of paint your local indy shops use. If the certified shop is using the Home Depot color matcher with PPG paint and your local indy shop is willing to spray out multiple test panels for you using their own paint... I'd choose the local shop. And yes, I'm speaking from experience. With the metal flake in our cars plus the aging of the factory paint, the "paint code" doesn't always give you a perfect match.
