Acceleration via Cruise Control faster than with Foot?

Long journey yesterday/today (Mansfield to Buxted for a wedding, then back today), first time I've really used the cruise control properly.

I get the feeling my 320d accelerates harder in 6th when I hit resume than if I use my foot.

I'm sure it's not just the feeling of the car doing it for me.

If I floor it, then resume the cruise but keep my foot hard on, as I lift my foot off I can feel the acceleration inprove slightly

I think this is because the power drops off then back on again at full throttle very suddenly.

With the throttle pedal even if you floor it quickly the transition is a little more gradual.

Aye, it's grim up north (yet I seem to see loads of new beemers)

I keep seeing a Coupe in the mornings on the MARR - not you is it? What colour is yours?

I don't think the cruise thing is down to throttle position (I had a similar thing on my last car), but I'll keep trying to se if I can spot what it is.
