They charge £15 a day for a courtesy car at our local dealer – unless you buy a new car from them and then they’ll waive it.
However, mines in today again to fix a few warranty issues. As they cant manage to fix them and the car has in fact been returned worse that what it went in I moaned and am not paying for the courtesy car I’ve been given today. I have an X1 to run around in. Its amazing how many bits have been nicked from the 3 series like the radio, heater controls, indicator stalks, steering wheel and speedo clocks - all identical.

I dont mind paying the £15. Its far more convenient than getting a lift etc.

However I refuse to pay for it with warranty work. I had a loan car for about 18 days once and they wanted me to pay the £200 odd for the per day charge. Rediculous.

Though last time my car went in it was cos the battery kept losing charge. They charged me £100 warranty excess to finally admit it was losing charge but not under warranty so wouldn't be replaced for free. Neither would they budge on the £100 excess.

But, they gave me a loan car for 5 days and didn't charge and they put £20 of fuel in as they needed more fuel in to test it, all that was free.

Well, the X3 has passed its MOT with no dramas, but had a couple of bits sorted whilst in...

1) MOT - £55 charged
2) Drivers side mirror replaced under warranty as wasn't demisting
3) All glow plug replaced under warranty due to 'high resistance'
4) Filter under washer reservoir cleaned as was blocked meaning rear washer jet didn't work - £50 charged

As clearance to have the mirror replaced under warranty came through quite late yesterday they couldn't finish it in time so kept it over night. Sorted this morning and the car was delivered back to my house and the courtesy car collected whilst I was at work.

All in, £104.61, which I was quite happy with to be honest as I always dread a large bill when it goes to the Dealers.

Annoyingly, the brake fluid needs replacing, and I gave them authorisation to do this but it doesn't appear to have been done so will need to speak to them tomorrow to see when they can do this. Should have realised really as the bill was surprisingly low as this service item was £73 on its own. Bit of a pain in the arse if I'm honest as my wife is left stranded whilst the X is in as the Zed is hardly a famiy car .

They did waive the £15 courtesy car fee though which I was happy with.

Blue Bell - Wilmslow. In fairness they've always been quite good with me and usually worked on my behalf to get 'grey' warranty issues through. Probably a simple mistake of the left hand not talking to the right hand - annoying nethertheless.
