Shame on VORTEX TUNING.

I wasn't going to post this because honestly, it appeared that Vortex was no longer selling wheels on here and it's felt like nothing will be done.

I have had ongoing issues with Vortex after initially thinking the purchase had gone smoothly. Customer service has not been what I had expected.

Recently, while washing the car, I noticed the clear coat peeling on the lip of one of my rear wheels. Please note, that I've only ever used a microfiber cloth and water to wipe the wheels clean after using a hose to spray them initially. I've very OCD about wheels and cleaning them without chemicals because I fear the chemicals degrading the finish.

I tried to PM vortex_tuning on here and still have not received any form of communication. That message was sent 01-02-2012 09:57 AM.

I had also emailed through the contact form on their website, and that communication trail was as follows:

They reply: (Jan 3rd)
Hi, Chris:

Sorry for the late reply.
Could you let us know your payment confirmation number so we can find your transaction first?
The wheel comes with one year manufacture warranty on the finish, but if the peeling is the result of any improper care or impact, it's not covered.
You can take some close up pictures to show us the peeling areas if you can.

Thanks

----------
I reply: (Jan 4th)
Paid through Paypal [*BLOCKED CONFIRMATION NUMBER*]

-- Will provide images in a second email tonight when I get home. There has been no impact and the wheels are rinsed with water and wiped clean with a microfiber cloth.

----------
I follow-up with photo in another email:

---------
They reply: (Jan 5th)
Hi, Chris:
Is it the only place that peel?

Thanks

---------
I reply: (Jan 5th)
Yes. I checked the other wheels and they appear to be okay. That is one of the rear wheels and is peeling. The size is about a 50 cent piece.

--------
I reply: Jan 9th
Hi,

I am still waiting for something back from you on this item.

Thank you,

Chris

-------------------------------

And this is where we are today. It's been 11 days since they last contacted me. The photo obviously shows no sign of impact and I've had the wheels a whole 8 months or so. Purchased back in late April to Early May of last year.

I would NOT recommend doing business with Vortex. Lord knows, I wouldn't ever do business with them again.

I do not expect this to be resolved but hey, I want the community to know what you could get yourself into. I know others have had positive experiences but I think what really matters when doing business with a company is how they handle the bad things that happen because that's when it matters the most.

Don't have time during the day really to sit on the phone. I work during normal business hours. Peek in on here during quick 1-2 minute breaks.

Might have to try to call them though, maybe that's the only way to get a resolution.

I just feel like you need to actually speak to companies nowadays. While Email is a great convenient way of communication, days of emailing back and forth could be a less then 5 minute phone call.

That said, hopefully everything gets resolved for you.

None yet. Haven't had a chance to call, been way too busy at work and Vortex is closed by the time I get out to head home.

eh... i feel you on this one but after 8 months I dont know if theres anything that they should do. Stuff like that could be caused from real strong cleaners, etc. I am not saying thats what it is, but i feel like with any product, after about 1-2 months you cant do anything

Well then I guess they should change their warranty from 1 year to 1-2 months? First of all, it's just my word but, I've only used water/rag on the wheels. I would think the burden of proof is on them to deny warranty on something they sell.

I've essentially chalked this one up to doing business with a company that I won't ever purchase anything from again.

I didnt realize their warranty was 1 year. I wasnt blaming you by any means, I just know how messed up a wheel ca get in 8 months. Im locally notorious for killing wheels I broke two BBS RS-GT's less than 24 hours after getting them mounted.

Good luck with the situation

Hopefully this gets resolved. I just had a set of their wheels delivered today and don't like stuff like this. Good luck OP. It appears that they no longer have an account on E90post as my PM to them earlier today was rejected?

I emailed a third time and told them that I was posting about them on various outlets. They emailed back within 25 minutes and said to call them. This was after 15 days of ignoring me attempting to contact them via email for a resolution.

I'll call them when I get an opportunity. But considering I sent a photo already, I don't understand why they need me to call unless they just don't want a written record of what they have to communicate to me.

It sucks that you have to threaten them to get something accomplished but at the end of the day, as long as they do the right thing and replace the damaged wheel they are ok in my book.

Complaints are the only thing that get you anywhere nowadays. Quite sad, but that's what the world has turned into.

It's all about the money dude. They hope that you'll get frustrated and quit, but if you fight they'll smarten up.

Is there an update/resolution?

I had been considering getting Vortex LMs for awhile.

Forum lurking is a good way to do due diligence on vendors you haven't done business with.... especially before paying about 2k (incl tires) for wheels.

I want to revive this regarding an older set of rims which have seen a lot of wear and tear, as I'm the second owner. I bought them but soon they cracked. And they cracked so ridiculously it's like I was riding on peanut brittle.
I've been trying to get in contact with this company regarding a replacement for a single rear rim. And it's been months now with them not responding to emails.

I have a set of vortex tuning 260m reps in 19"
One rear has 7+ cracks in it. Want to just get another one to replace it. But they're not helping!

Sorry for kind of thread jacking!

I had rims from them. Had an insurance claim so my insurance company was trying to get a hold of them to buy 2 rims. I ended up paying a little extra and getting 4 new rims as these guys did not answer their phones, emails etc.
Waste of time!
