Stage II Dinan Tune and Exhaust
Unfortunately, this is my first time out to run my car but I think these numbers seem low for a Stage II tune and Dinan Exhaust. There was a head wind of about 15 mph but I didnt think it would make that much of a difference. My car recently had a software update... Is there a chance that they erased my tune?
Here's a picture of my time slip for my best run of the day. ![]() |

Yes most likely your tune got wiped if you had a software update. My local dealer isn't Dinan authorized so I have to take it to a local shop that is after i get any software updates (local sop doesn't charge to re-apply a tune)

Have you ever ran yours in the 1/4. I see you have about the same mods and just curious how you've done, if you have. |

Nope, I'm more inclined to do track days (turns are more fun). I have been meaning to go at least once though, I'll post my time if i go in the near future.

That is about right with just an exhaust and no Dinan II. I ran 13.0 - 12.9 with Dinan and exhausta and I have an Xi which is heavier and slower. Go to Dinan authorized place. Good luck.

Wouldn't you know it if your tune was missing? I sure as hell can tell when I uninstall mine.

I had a software update on my car at an unathorized Dinan dealer also. I believe it got wipped. I have'nt had a chance to take it into a dinan dealer since the closest one to me is 2 1/2 hours away.
The reason why im not that sure is because I bought the car used then two days later I took it to get serviced to make sure everything was up to date. |

Turns out the tune was indeed deleted last time service was done.. All is well and back to normal.. I bought the Cobb Accessport on Pre-Black Friday sale though so I guess getting the tune put back on was a bit of a waste.

I'm surprised you couldn't tell if the Dinan stg2 was gone???
My car was re-flashed to stock after HPFP replacement recently at my local dealer. I told them I had Dinan stg2 and they told me the flash would erase it. Since they weren't an authorized Dinan dealer I just took my car to my Dinan auth'd dealer and they flashed the Dinan stg2 right back on. For the day I was driving the stock tune I could tell a huge difference in power though. Hard to not notice. Justin

1.9 60" Dinan S2 w/exahust will get you 12.9-13.0, but your running Cobb now so lets see how it turns out

Everytime you take your car to the dealer you should make it loud and clear "DO NOT TOUCH MY DINAN" and for them to let the tech working on the car know that. It happened to me...you wont really know unless WOT the car. I started to suspect mine when a PROcede 335i pull too hard and too fast from me vs the many many times we had done the samething Took it for a dyneo run and I about almost got into it with the shop guy, I took it back to the Dinan BMW dealer to have Dinan S3 reflashed back to it I apologised later... |

Did you have Dinan s2 before your s3 flash? Was the power increase noticeable?

On my previous 335i when going from S2 to S3 there was a big significant difference. The larger added FMIC and the Dinan CAI made a huge difference w/ a 1 PSI increase between the stages.

Been pondering an upgrade to stg3 someday for a little more power and to keep it simple/reliable for autox and PDX/TT. Thanks..and sorry OP for the ![]()

The FMIS and the OC is needed for stage 3. The CAI is an added bonus that helps out with intake breathing and helps with gas also

Personally, I believe there is no need to "upgrade to stage 3 for a little more power" for autox events, etc. I have run faster times than other e9x cars, including M3s and 335s with more aggressive tuning at AutoX events. After my first season of AutoX and a couple track days, I know that this car with just my mild tune is much more capable than my skill level as a driver. If and when I reach a point that the car is holding me back, I'll upgrade accordingly. Just my opinion. Either way, it's all about having fun. enjoy ![]()

I agree, there is no need for more power for autox events. I just said I wanted to keep it simple/reliable for autox. I would like the added power just in general ![]() If I do anything specifically for autox, it will be rims and tires. My plan is to run this summer season as the car sits, and on street tires, then see how much I like it and go from there. I realize the car is much faster then my driver skill level and will probably be like that for a while still. Justin
