Euro Fog Switch question
Potentially going to purchase an OEM Euro fog switch.
I was reading on the forums that it is only compatible with factory Xenons? Is this so? If it is true, would it be compatible if I coded my car for Xenons (I will be installing US spec Xenons already converted on my e90 currently w/halogens)? I found the same information on Turnermotorsport http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-18...-1-series.aspx Please help! Don't want to end up buying and have the part not be compatible Last edited by rayguy24; 09-27-2011 at 05:50 PM. |

I never heard of having xenons being a requirement for the the euro switch to work.

Its very easy to make the part yourself. Takes about 20 min. There is DIY guide here. I was nervous the first time I did it, but like I said it is very easy mod to do.
It does not matter what kind of headlights you have. All of the switches are exactly the same. But I think charging $150 is ridiculous! |

I completed the mod on my 2011 328xi and it is has w/xenon lights. I have the rear fog light indicator on the dash, but that is it.

My car had halogens when I originally installed the euro switch, no problems. I now have LCI halogens and still no problems.

The variations in the switches are actually because of the various headlight options found in Europe, and whether the car has manual headlight height adjustment or not. And rain sensor or not of course.
So the difference between a Euro switch for a car with Xenons and a car with Halogens is that the Halogen switch has an extra little wheel to the left of the usual controls that adjusts the headlight aim height electrically. Obviously this does nothing on a US spec car. Our possible combination of Halogens without manual height adjustment would be very unusual if not non-existant in the EU. Since for a US-spec car the only difference between headlight switches is rain sensor or not, I am going to say that the same goes for the Euro-spec switch. If you order a Euro-switch for a car with Xenons it will not have the height adjust wheel, and if you order one for Halogens it will, but either will work just fine in a US Halogen car. Here is mine, Euro spec for a car with Halogens and rain sensor (I hope to add the Euro halogens some day): ![]() Euro light switch with rear fog light button by kevinr1916, on Flickr
