Car Leasing Q
I have been looking at personal car leasing with the recent spate of 640d leases!
Small point, but presumably, one could still put a private plate on a leased car? Wasn't sure if you get the V5 or whether lease company keep it. I've said it before and I'll say it again....I wish I hated cars lol!

As stated Leasing company keeps the V5 and would you trust them with your reg? Doubt you'd be able to transfer a reg. Although BMW did let Dad transfer his over and handed it back to him once the lease was done with.

I am putting my plate on the 640d, dealer says I need to start the process of taking it off the car about 3/4 months before th lease ends.

Peter, won't it be a bit embarrassing starting the process on the day of collection.

This raises an interesting question as the V5 should show the registered keeper and not the owner.
I know I hold the V5 for my car (which I lease off MB Finance) but that does not give me title. So if you are named as the registered keeper, you should have the V5 in your hand. |

Thanks guys....in summary, it is possible but it might be more hassle than its worth!
A few options Peter. Our family car (wifes) comes to the end of its 3 year PCP later this year. We might keep it but we are looking at alternatives. We looked at the Evoque 5 door but have ruled it out (mrs wasn't keen on styling; despite advertised combined mpg of 50 for manual SD4 the Evoque owners forum suggests most are struggling to better 30). If we get a new family car it is looking like an X3 or Q5. Both have a 6 month lead time so thinking about it now. We will prob change both cars about the same time as my son is fast outgrowing the back seat of the TT. I also own the TT (no finance) so we will use the equity from that if I don't lease....lots of options! If we get an X3 or Q5 then I will take it as my daily driver and Fi will get a smaller more economic car for the school run etc (rather than having 2 c. £30k cars outside the door depreciating, which is a bit crazy). Sorry you asked
