I tried this but felt a slight vibratikon throughout the car at low rpm's. Anyone else feel this?

What exactly does this mod do, just alter the exhaust note.

This is the first time I see anything about a golf tee mod! Time for research!

im sure there is a reason for this line in the first place.

anyone know what the line is supposed to do and what happens when you remove it?

i remember reading that people feel torque loss after doing this..weird.

Some have said it exists to create additional backpressure during cold starts and idle, but mostly i think its just for noise reasons... it closes at crusing speeds and idling to prevent droning and loud deep idle sounds

You wont lose any power... it was never closed under high throttle input

I just did it... I used a solid ball link from an R/C helicopter... (it bulges the line a little more than the stock nipple, but still slides in and out OK)

I beleive its a 3.85mm ball

I used one of these (the metal thing... actually the one i used didnt have threads on it, but it still had a neck on it)



Works and sounds great... and totally stealth, other than the small extra bulge in the line

UPDATE:
I may be crazy, but i feel like my low rpm throttle response has gotten a little better since this mod... almost like it used to be affected by the silencer valve actuator wating to open... which is now always open.

Its much louder in the low rpms... partial throttle sounds more like what full throttle sounded like in the low rpm range. I was very surprised, but also realized why bmw put this on there... i might be too loud for some poeple without it

FYI -- the right sized screw works just as well...seals up the vacuum hose and I bought a couple vacuum caps and put one on the metal connector to seal it.

Farting around on a day we should have off. Went out to the parking garage and shoved a ball I broke off the end of the pocket clip of a nice pen some salesman left. Sounds a bit' better, I must admit.

quick questions. Can this be reached from above the motor or underneath the car? I know the double yellow zip tie or wire tie method doesnt work 100% but i want to try this and thats easily reverisble, is that worth the effort? Also i dont completely understand the ball bearing method. Wont the bearing be pulled in both directions or it only a vac line pulling vac not pushing?

Just lay down next to the driver side exhaust. Look up...underneath... there it is. You will see it is no big deal. Yanking that sucker off is the only "work".

the zip tie method will damage the lines in my opinion... just shove a steel ball in there that is big enough that it takes some force to put it in, and if you have to reverse it, massage the ball out.
