Question Trade in my 07 335 for 08 135 vert?

I know most of you would be like but I recently took my 335 in for a air intake pressure sensor replacement and they gave me a 2011 135i convertible loaner. That thing was fun to drive! It might have been the DCT tranny but it drove awesome and was just as nice as my 335. Well my warranty will be up in about a year for my CPO'd 335 (best investment ever get a CPO car) and I LOOVE the n54 engine and i loove convertibles but I dont think I can afford a 335 hardtop convertible, plus those are too heavy anyways so I wanted to see what you guys though were the pros and cons of getting a 135 vert after selling my 335 so I can get another 2 years of warranty service? Or you recommend just leasing a newer 335i?

I had a Porsche Boxster S vert that I loved but the engine blew and I spent 26K to put in a 911 Carrera S motor (3.6) in there thinking the warranty would pay but I lost my court case and was out 26K. I live in Charleston, SC so I would be able to use the vert most of the time. Why do you say don't get a bmw vert?

Weight issues, structure rigidity issues and just how goofy the 1 and 3 series verts look...(there are pretty much no good looking 4 seat convertibles in known existence in this price range) at least the 1 has that soft top but then you have to worry about someone cutting it open and so forth, so forth. The Boxster vert has 2 seats so that changes a lot...

My honest opinion: No, don't do it. 1 Series = ugly...1 series convertible = fugly...

Does the 135 very weigh as much as the 335 sedan? I know I didnt like the looks of the 1 series either but its growing on me lol.

I would never buy a ragtop convertible and yes the 135 is not much of a looker. The only reason I ended up with one was because of the retractable hardtop. It's funny how 99% of regular people just thinks it's a regular coupe until I hit the button.

People will have their opinions, but after you've driven one for a while (esp in warmer climates) it's hard to go back. Only reason not to get it is if you're an avid tracker and precious seconds is important to you.

I would recommend holding off for the 335i if you can afford it. The new 2 series might be an option as well.

The 135c looks like a southern Cali girl's car IMO. Get keep the 335, or get a 1M or regular 135.

Yeah I got some compliments from people when I had the loaner but I was thinking a black on black wouldnt be to girlish? Would leasing a 335 be cheaper?

Garage List
Get the vert buddy!!!

There is no feeling like driving an N54 AND top down. It's just sex, that's all I have to say. Plus...it's a 4 seating hardtop which is practical while being beautiful. Like one of the other guys said, unless your an avid tracker don't worry about the weight.

A 335i financed if an 08 shouldn't cost you too much over what you're already paying for your coupe. Get it!!!

for some reason i ALWAYS get a 128 vert as a loaner. do not like the rag top. you lose some structural rigidity, added noise, plus future possible repairs with the rag top.

and the 335i vert just looks wierd from the side/back IMO.

Nothing like having 460+ hp with the top down!

335i convertible is nice (except the long trunk)
135i convertible....well its a rag top so I personally hate soft tops and find the it kills the look of the car.

Go 135i coupe, or a new 335i, whether it be coupe sedan or vert.

Personally I prefer the lower roof line of the E93, that's one of the reasons I bought one. IMO it's the best looking 3-series but each to their own and we'll never all agree, that's why BMW made 3 versions of 3-series . I'm at Stage 1 COBB and this thing shifts so hard, granted around a bend when compared to the coupe it might not be as good (would be great to se a head to head) but this thing really does handle well, less rigid or not!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know driving fast with the top down is a pretty awesome rush, such a tough decision! Is the 135 vert heavier than a 335? I keep reading weight issues with it?

No.

1-series 335i - 3505lbs (1590kg)
3-series 335i - 3825lbs (1735kg)

Apparently 0.1 seconds difference in 0-60.

However, if a really fat person drives the 135i, you're ok .
