Brake Pads ?
Hey All,
I wasn't expecting to need to change brake pads anytime soon. Tonight I went and adjusted my tyre pressures, when driving away my front and rear brake pad lights came on with the red brake error on the dash? Looking through my logbook, the front pads have not been changed but the rears were changed 13000 km ago? Car has done 47000km. Any ideas? AJ |

I think there might be something disturbing the sensors for your brake pads when you were adjusting your tyre pressure. I could be wrong but atleast It's abnormal for both the front and back brake warnings to come up at the same time given the rears only done 13000km. Can you hear the typical worn out squeeking noise when you applied on your brakes?

has the service indicator been reset when the brake pads were changed last? if not, there could be a mismatch b/n brake pad condition and service interval indication. Might have to take the wheel off, examine the pad thickness and then reset the indicator.

Bmwaddiction is right, and is probably the reason why the lights came on. But from the sound of it there is nothing wrong with the brake pads itself. If it really bothers you, you can always take one of the brakepads out of the caliper and examine how much meat there is left. If you take it to a specialist, they would probably tell u to replace them regardless... To make money lol

Ok, update from the dealer DSC control module is gone..... Recommended that we try a reprogram and if that doesn't work then replacement is required...
Apparently there is a communication issue between the DSC control module and other modules. This is why all other functions of the DSC are working but brake pads aren't. Anyone else heard about this? From search: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272871 Replacement is $2000 plus labour. |
