Question on Offsets

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I'd like someone to verify something for me if possible.

So:

1 inch = 25.4 mm

Will a 10" wheel with an offset of 20 poke the same as a 9.5" wheel with an offset of 13.65?

Here's my logic, the 10" wheel is a half of an inch wider than the 9.5" wheel so theoretically it should stick out .25 inches more than a 9.5" wheel with the same offset. And .25 (1/4) of 25.4mm is 6.5mm.

So, 20 - 6.5 is 13.65.

Is this logic true?

I know no wheel will ever have that offset, I'm simply asking if my logic is correct.

After inputting the original wheel info and new wheel info..the bottom left hand corner has a section called "Clearance" that will tell you the following:

I have a question, I bought some coilovers, previous owner said he had to run a 5mm spacer on his 189s because the wheel was hitting the suspension. i dont know the offset of 189s, but im guessing somewhere in the 30s, if i use a rim with a lower offset, low 20s, would I still need the spacer?

you'd really have to know the offset of the wheels that were hitting and the offset of the wheels that you'd be running. but from the numbers you mentioned, most likely not.
