Rear Brake Pads

Mine need changing soon, had a couple of q's for you guys

Firstly, what make do BMW use?

Secondly, BMW are charging 250 for rear brake pad replacement, is it worth it?

Thirdly, it appears I can get brake pads of a decent quality from GFS or Euro for about 40, get them fitted by my local guy and im quids in. But then how do i reset the warning thing? Or does this happen itself from the brake wear sensors?

Cheers!

1. OEM pads are made by Textar.

2. 250 to just replace the pads is quite frankly scandalous. Parts will be 40ish tops, and well under an hour's labour to fit.

3. Depeds how worn your pads are - once you fit a new sensor any warning lights will go out, then you can reset the condition-based indicator through iDrive or the BC stalk.

£250!!! For rear pads + vat would be £300
Go Indy and specify you want Textar pads and a new sensor fitting.
My local specialist Indy did my discs and pads all 4 corners(textar) + sensors for £400 Inc.

sorry to hijack the thread but mine is due quite soon as well..do you need to replace the wear sensors each time you replace the brake pads?
Am i right in saying there is only 1 wear sensor required for the 2 rear brake pads and same applies for the front ones.

Yes, once worn you need to replace them. There is one front left and one right rear. The rear takes a little longer to replace as the connector is hidden under the inner wheel arch liner, but a pretty easy job with the right tools. There are plenty of DIY's to reset the service light from the dashboard.
