I did not know whether to start a new thread or tag it on the bottom

Arrived home, ripped open the Royal mail bag and found - (owerrr looks a wedding ring box lol)

crack it open -

Tip - lift up the box so you can see the ballast connectors under neath

Take out the old bulbs, fit new led ones in (having nimble figers helps) but with a lot of swearing mangaged to fit them

Aligned against GP Thunders

One of my worries was that it dimming when the headlights were turned on. I can say it slightly dims when you go from DRL to side lights but you only notice this in pitch black. But overall it is not noticable at all when side lights or dipped beams are on. They match the oem xenons in colour perfectly which produces a crisp white light.

I thought GP thunders were "it" but these 4 led ones blows them right out of the water. I have not tried the more expensive leds but I can say from looking at the pics online this set is on par (definatly value for money/cheaper) than rivals. I am quite happy how it lights up the outer ring as well, I think by having 4 leds this helps it

I will try to take some pics in daylight but as above it is really hard to capture the right photo. If anyone in the west mids wants to have a look in person before they buy, they are more than welcome

Thanks Neil

GP Thunders both side = DRL

Left - GP - right - BMS 4 LED

No probsTrust me you will not be dissapointed. I am just glad BMW made changing the DRL easy so I could change them in the pitch black with a small led torch lol

An update with regard to concerns with radio interference -

No probs what so ever driving about, however I normally park in a multi storey and listen to the DAB for 10 mins, this morning it failed to pick up the DAB signal - Not sure if its related but never happened before

I've got some of these cree led bulbs but in a 2 led not 4 led design. The 2 led ones do emit some radio interference but not enough to seriously affect the signal. However, there is still enough interference that in poor quality signal areas like multistory car parks it does have a noticable affect. Its something I can live with, just about.

Here you go, I have tried to take them at close up and distance - apologies for crap pics as taken on my phone

In the multistorey - DRL only

DRL only close up

DRL only far

Sidelight only close

Sidelights only far

Dipped beams + sidelights close

Dipped beams + sidelights far

Overall I am happy with these, only slight issue with it losing signal on the DAB in the multistorey car park, where as before I could sit and listen to DAB in the multistorey

Hi Guys,

Good reports so far. I will take up the DAB thing with BMS.

As far as pictures are concerned...try kneeling down in the middle of the car 10-15ft away as shown in this picture...

I've got Dab but not suffered any issues with signal loss with the bulbs.

I forgot to mention in the above, in person I notice both rings light up it is just the way I was taking photo angle from. With the DAB, it isnt a big issue for me as when driving normally there is no signal loss whatsoever.

Mistryn,

At last, a sequence of good photos of these installed. Nice one. Is it my imagine or are the LED's dimmer on SL compared to DRL mode ?

Neil,

I was to understand that fitting LED's, the voltage drop from DRL to SL mode wouldn't affect the brightness of LED AE. Is this not the case with BMS LEDs?

IMO the brightness does drop sligfhtly when in SL mode only. But when you put dipped on it hardly makes any difference. It doesnt bother me that much as I leave the switch pos in 0 (for DRL) and when I need dipped I turn the dial to the right (hardly leave it in auto pos)

Maybe that the new LEDs being 10 watts are nearer the original bulb wattage of 35 watts therefore drop slightly and are noticeable, even though very slight.
