Randall said he knew Maggie; what happened to that? If he does, he must be local and probably already knows where the farm is.

That was the second to last episode; what did I miss? How would Randall know that Rick was at Maggie's farm? They left that whole thing hanging.

they talked about him knowing maggie in the second to last episode, that's not a new feature to this episode. At least that's how I read your post thinking it sounded like you though that was only new news from sunday.

When I heard him say that, I thought they would take him back to the farm and Maggie would save him. Then he and Glenn would get into it. But I dont think that was even mentioned in the last episode.

Nah, you can't add black people either. These things are very acutely researched to have the optimum white/minority ratio for the subject/audience.

Technically, though, they aren't adding anyone new. It would be a re-appearance of the first two people Rick met after re-gaining consciousness.

Actually, I'm sort of kidding sort of serious. The inclusion of minorities in a lot of shows (not about minorities or that don't specifically call for them) is usually done for the purpose of appeasement.

I'm pretty sure the black guy is only being kept around for one thing: so Merle can kill him.

Other than that, like you said, he doesn't contribute anything meaningful. His death at the hands of Merle though would be significant and meaningful to the show and ratings though.
