window tinting - solar tech?

I just called a local tint shop to get a price, quoted me 150$. I asked what film they use and they said solar tech. I did some searching and couldn't come up with much info about this film.

I usually use a different shop, but this place is much more convenient to get to. My TSX was tinted with HP Quantum, which I was pretty happy with.

Does anyone have any info/experience with solar tech films? I'm sure its probably fine, I just want to double check before I made any appointmens

Perhaps they meant SolarGard? That's what I got for my car, 20% in rear windows and 30% for driver and passenger side windows. You can see the finished product here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...?t=267&page=16

I know of a private company in Florida called Solar Tech. They apparently buy film from somewhere else & have their label printed on it but mostly they deal in lower quality film. I asked the manager once awhile back & she stated they are not a manufacturer but simply distributors of film only... so it's likely they could have sold film to someone in another state & that other person say they use Solar Tech Film when actually there really isn't a manufacturer called Solar Tech. Tricky huh? This seems to be the case.

Personally, as a business owner & expert installer since the 80's I use only the CP FIlms Llumar brand... or CP Films has their F1 line but thats an old program. Now Llumar has a new line out thats pretty close to the same as F1, essentially... but that doesn't require any special qualifications as F1.
