Xi Sedan/Coupe Strut Compatibility

Hi,

I have an '08 Xi coupe and need a new driver-side front strut. I found a place that sells one, but it's marked as for the sedan. Does anyone know if the sedan and coupe struts are interchangeable?

Also, does anyone else know of anything else I should replace while I'm at it? It's supposedly damaged and needs replaced to be able to get it aligned, so I think I need the upper strut bearing at least too.

Thanks!

Anyone please? I need to order soon, so I can get my car aligned. I've searched everywhere. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try here and match up the part number for Bilstein sedan and coupe and see if they match.

Only the rears are interchangable.

a 5 second search would have yielded an answer for you immediately. Also, the stickied post at the top of this very forum explains everything about suspension compatability (hence the name, "XDrive Suspension Compatability List" - almost the exact same name of the thread you posted immediately below it.

just sayin'

Slow your roll. He's asking about getting an xi sedan front strut for his xi coupe.

OP-

Go to realoem.com and check out part numbers. That should lead you in the right direction. Since aftermarket companies don't produce separate struts for coupe v. sedan, I think you are in the clear. Check out realoem, though.

And the thread I directed him to not only states he can't, but it lays out all his options.

I also stated the font sedan shocks won't work on his coupe. I'd also suggest replacing the pair together unless they're reasonably close in age.

It makes no difference between the two. In fact the 06 models use the same part numbers whether sedan or coupe. Check tischer. Part numbers were likely changed due to inventory management. There is absolutely no reason a sedan strut shouldn't fit a coupe and vice versa. Aftermarket doesn't differentiate.

I do agree that both sides should be changed together.

Is he talking about i struts on an xi? If so, that is an absolute no for fronts.

Nope. He's looking to buy the struts for an xi sedan for his xi coupe. You are 100% correct that i struts do not fit on an xi.

OP-Sorry that we derailed your thread! Hopefully you've resolved the issue by now!
