Cheaper alternative for the $340 spare tire kit.
I really don't wanna spend around $340 dollars for the space saver spare tire kit for my E90. Is there any other spare tire I can use that is much cheaper? I don't really need the jack since I can just use one from another car.
Thanks. |

This is I think one for the e90. Its been posted on her but it is hard to find.
I only have a screen cap of the website. This I believe can be used with the e90 as it has the same rolling diameter.

![]() Anyway, I think it's really dumb on BMWs part because we all want Pilot Super Sports (more performance, less $$$ = no brainer), but in doing so our trunks are unusable. That's dumb. |

The only problem is the trunk is virtually unusable. I would almost play a game of chance and say if I'm within 30 mi. from home, it can be arranged to go home and get the winter tire. If far away from home, then put the winter tire in the trunk. I mean this weekend we just went on a trip 2 hours away on the winters with no spare, didn't even think twice about it.

Yeah, I had one of those at one time - only needed them once. Took over an hour for them to get to me and the car was in town, surrounded by 50 different shops. Last time I threw my $$ away on that.
I always keep the Mobility Kit in my car (slime+compressor), but also keep a full size spare in my trunk with jacking kit during the winter months...

Thanks!! hmm doesn't look bad at all but it does takes quite a space "neatly" lol. Only I don't have winter tires set (not needed in my area). But I could buy a 17" wheel/tire combo and it would still be cheaper than the space saver tire kit (can u believe that
lol).and also the more I think about the ConticomfortKit the more it seems feasable. I just hope it doesn't mess up the TPMS sensor permanently. decisions decisions |

I have AAA membership, slime kit with compressor, plug kit, and full size spare with jack. I think I'm probably covered.
Plus, I can fit my golf clubs in the trunk with the spare. I don't regularly put things in my trunk so the full size spare works for me. |

I just got a E60 wheel from getbmwparts.com for $60 (36 11 6 758 778). Tire (125 80R17) from tire rack was $120 shipped. $10 craigslist E39 jack and wrench. Total cost was under $200.
Ebay has some E60 spares for under $200 shipped but sometimes the tires are 7+ years old. Always check the DOT code before purchase. |

Gotta have something when you take the run flats off. Beats being stranded, calling for a buddy, or a tow truck, and not having your car driveable while you wait for a specialty tire replacement.

Any particular reason you got the E39 jack and wrench and not another model's? |
